Best slim camera in the WORLD?

Im thinking about the casio exilim, it's had good ratings... i want something that'll hold in my pocket when i'm out at some shows and still take good shots?

i just bought a Canon SD1000. check the reviews on it to see if it fits what you're looking for. it's definitely really tiny and would fit in a pocket, no problem. i'd definitely recommend buying a Canon over a Casio.

my mom has one and it doesnt have a view finder and barely any customizeable settings

it has the massive 2.5 inch lcd or whatever, but the features were soo bad

just get a canon and your life will be easier

thats the thing about canons though, whatever size you prefer, they have-

and there r&d budget is insanely higher than their leading competitor, something like 75% if i remember correctly

it fits in the fucking pocket

maybe if your and bens' fat asses lost some weight, your jeans would fit better. and thus pockets could be maximized.

either that or lose the femme jeans. that includes you too lucid

stop wearing girls jeans and every camera will fit in your pocket

My mum has the Casio Exilim EX-S880. Bought it for her about 6 months ago, she wanted a simple point and click with a big LCD. I picked this over a Canon model as the menu in the Exilim is really intuitive and easy to use.

I'm looking for a small camera at the moment, will probobly get the new Exilim EX-S10. Its out now/soon I think, but I'm waiting for some reviews to filter through first.

when the two cameras have the same picture quality and even if both fit in the pocket i prefer to have a camera that is less felt in my pocket than the irregular shaped A-series... the sd-series is symmetrical where as the A-series is not..

also lithium ion battery vs AA batteries... = no brainer

will you are happy with your camera... its ok.. the rest of TA is happier with smaller cameras that fit easier into their pockets

I just trod on my old sony cybershot camera. Now it's the best slim one in the world!

And I'm looking at getting into digital slr cameras next time I buy one. Not sure what to get yet but I have plenty of time to consider it.

pretty much..the cost of batteries easily exceeds the cost savings of the a series.

Hold out for the inevitable Rebel Xti replacement in the pipeline, unless you want more professional.

lol yes..the initial investment is near $40 for a charger and 8 batteries. im no idiot. plus they are insanely invonvenient. its much more convenient to get a second canon battery since it COMES WITH an external battery charger anyways. and not to mention lithium ion batteries last MUCH longer than stupid rechargable alkalines. oh and must i mention the charge lasts longer! oh and the canon battery is smaller. fits in the pocket better.

casio knows dick about cameras compared to canon and nikon.

one thing that is a no go for me with casio's...their fucking data cable. its NOT standard. you MUST use the dock unless you have a media reader. and if you lose the data cable you cant just run to the local electronics store and get a mini usb cable. its some proprietary cable. i have lots of mini usb cables. makes it easy if i cant find the one i usually use.

Time for a brief hijack.

I think I'm going to buy a f/4 Canon L 300mm prime lens (with IS), and use it with a Canon L 1.4X tele-converter. This will effectively give me a 420mm prime lens (apparently, with no loss of image quality due to the tele-converter as well).

I was looking at the Canon L 100-400mm, but I know that it gets a bit soft at full focal length, which is how I would be using it 90% of the time.

Thoughts? Comments?

afaik, using a converter actually softens your photos a bit and you lose a couple f/stops.
