But...wouldn't the tracks with the most sales be the most popular; thus more than likely receive the most votes?

I was told by someone that the artist can chose what genre he wants the song to be placed under. I don't know how true that is, but that's what I heard

The labels generally decide when they ask for it to be categorized. Many labels will label tracks things they're not in order to generate sales, however (and others just don't care).

Miguel Migs and The Timewriter are legends in deep house category as well.

Though I dunno why the hell is Kevin Yost listed under chillout instead of deep house. And no Kerri Chandler? WTF? (Though to be fair, no Chandler productions this year really caught my attention)

i know with releasepromo, when putting up a track we have to pick the genres it falls in...maybe the same case...they DO need to have some quality assurance in check tho considering what a big company it is

genre classifying is so subjective that people will always disagree

yeah, but not when it is so blatantly wrong. like having a prog house tune classified as trance lol

Maybe so but there are a lot of things that are really off in that list - and any semi-educated person will tell you so. Dubfire - Emissions is clearly not minimal, and Mexico Can Wait is really, really far from trance (just some examples).

Edit: Yohan beat me to it
