The Bedroom Sessions v 2.0

Welcome to the updated version of the Bedroom Sessions - this thread is effectively created for both those TA DJ's who post in c0r regularly as well as for the general use of TA DJ's who just want a chance to stream some tunes to whatever audience may be around that day/afternoon/evening.

What this thread is not for:

- Promotion of regular radio shows airing on DI, Frisky, ETN, Proton, or any of the other EDM stations. Please keep all such promotion to this (click) thread.

- The creation of your own regular "radio show" - these servers are for the general use of TA DJ's and not your personal springboard for the hot new show idea you have. There will be limited exceptions made to this rule for a few regular broadcasts that already exist, see below.

What this thread is for:

- Amateur, up and coming, and/or well established Trance Addict DJ's to have the opportunity to stream live sets recreationally.

- An opportunity for TA's in general to hear what some of their peers are doing musically, and to see just what the folks who fall outside the realm of the "big names" are bringing to the world of EDM.

Server Information

03-11-08

For server information, please contact:

RJT
montana
idoru
SushiPunk

Please note that even though we're scattered about the globe (which will hopefully accommodate most regardless of what hemisphere you're currently in), we still have a somewhat short list of people to contact - so if it takes a bit for someone to get ahold of you please be patient.

I want to stress that regardless of little tiffs and/or disputes on the forum, everyone should feel welcome to ask for the opportunity to play. Access, however, will be restricted given any abuse of the system, and just what constitutes abuse will ultimately be left up to the servers owners (though the input of members, reporting of abuse, etc. from others will be appreciated and always considered).

Again, hopefully we will have a few contacts and the information for both servers available in the next few days - please be patient.

Regularly Scheduled Gigs:

Obviously regular use can become a major issue if it seems as though people are trying to build their own "show" and then feel cheated when the server isn't available when they want it. If that's what you're looking for, submit your demos to any of the countless internet radio stations out there.

There are, however, some exceptions that need to be noted simply because it would do no one any good to try and eliminate well established nights of music that have been going on for years at this point.

As of now, these are our "regular" shows:

Monday Nights - UKTA Radio

Time: 7pm-end (usually 10 or 11pm) GMT
Styles: Trance, House, Breaks, Techno

Saturdays - Ourboard Radio

Time: Approx. 8pm GMT-4am GMT
Styles: Trance, House, Techno, Chillout/Ambient, Dub, D&B/Jungle, Hardcore, Psychedelic, etc.

*I need the time for Boomers show if it's still going on.

Note: With the addition of a second server I'm hoping that regardless of the fact that there are regularly scheduled nights, should someone else want to jump on for a bit and play something different, they can. However, we shall see how this all plays out and if there are any major conflicts we'll have to sort out how that will all work out.

Tracklisting Archive

Link (click)

I decided to create a tracklist archive in the tracklisting forum in an effort to keep some sort comprehensive list of posted tracklists. I don't expect everyone to use it, but think it would be nice to keep an eye on who's playing what, and on how tracklists evolve over the years.

Certainly not mandatory, but something to I think might be a nice addition.

FAQ / "How To"

03-09-08

I am hoping to add FAQ's for both Windows and Mac OS users regarding necessary software/hardware information for streaming audio.

If anyone has a Windows FAQ they've found particularly useful, please either post a link here or PM me.

-------------

I realize this was all a LOT of information for an initial post, but I really would like to do this in a much more organized fashion this time, and I'd like to be able to provide the opportunity to play to as many different people as possible.

If anyone is willing to help with being a contact for server info, or has anything they'd like added to this post please let me know and I'd be happy to do it.

Cheers -

Rob

Look at it this way, you're in before this one gets locked.

Yup - once I'm either bored with or finished studying for the night tonight, I'm going to update the first post with information regarding the regular Monday and Saturday shows, as well as information regarding who to contact about getting free server information.

Also, as of Monday we should have one more 10 x 128kbps server available for use, so hopefully we'll have 2 to 3 options for people just in case something like what happened last night (server in use but no TA activity) there will always be something available for people to use.

If anyone has anything they'd like added to the initial info post, please let me know - I'm also going to begin a tracklisting archive in the tracklist forum so that should people want a place to keep tracklists documented, it will be there.

I'm hoping this time around we can keep it a bit more organized and provide opportunities to play to pretty much whomever wants to, when they'd like to.

Suggestions/comments/etc. are always appreciated.

I also need some people who are willing to be contacts for server information - I obviously don't want to post in it in the thread for fear of abuse, but feel we need at least a couple of people who are willing to be available for information regarding how to stream, server info, etc.

Also, if anyone has a link to a "How To" FAQ for streaming on PC, post the link here or shoot me a PM so I can add an instructional section to the first post.

I have one for Mac already - Linux kids should already know what they're doing or they shouldn't be running Linux

What are you talking about? It was used all the time (and further, it's closed now in an effort to create a more comprehensive thread as the last one could no longer be edited).

There's a lot more to it this time and it's basically a free opportunity for any number of DJ's to be able to stream audio - in my mind there's no reason for it NOT to be a sticky.

First post updated with initial information. Let me know what was missed.

nice work rob Will have our first bash tomorrow night no doubt. scary to think we've been doing it since late 2002 although then it was a 24kbps stream which we used our own connections as servers

Thanks boss

To be honest, I had been noodling how to do this in a more effective way for a while, but didn't really get the nerve to take the plunge until Tony asked me if I thought we'd be better served opening another thread that would be a bit more relevant.

I'm hoping that this continues to do as well as it had, and that now that we'll have a bit more organization and a few more options, that even more DJ's than have already jumped on will take the plunge and ahare their tunes with TA.

Posted by Ian on Mar-10-2008 01:52:

definitely. We've got some great djs here, and I find the sets of different guys from the boards better than most 'internationally renowned' djs. Plus unlike the thread in md where most people joined to spam it, the ones playing live here are regulars usually from the board, which is much more fun.

Lol, yeah - well I'm hoping that once we have a few people who aren't me that are willing to hand out server info when needed, there really won't be much "managing" per se.

Obviously things will change over time and we'll need to adapt the thread to reflect that, but I think there is a much better opportunity of that now if we can get a bit more solid foundation to start from.

We'll see what happens, but I'd like to hope that some of the kinks/mistakes that hampered the first thread were learned from and that those issues will be addressed better this time around.
