wiki:

quote:
Infectious mononucleosis, also known as kissing disease, or Pfeiffer's disease, in North America as mono and more commonly known as glandular fever in other English-speaking countries. It occurs most commonly in adolescents and young adults, where it is characterized by fever, sore throat, muscle soreness, and fatigue.

Transmission

Mononucleosis is typically transmitted from asymptomatic individuals through saliva, earning it the name "the kissing disease", or by sharing a drink, or sharing eating utensils. It may also be transmitted through blood. Individuals in close living arrangements nearly always pass the infection onto each other, although symptoms may not present for months or even years. As with many viral infections, such as chicken pox, antibodies are developed by individuals who become infected with the disease and recover. In most individuals, these antibodies remain in their system, creating lifelong immunity to further infections.

so what have you been doing with yourself then?

only advice i could give you is, take plenty of vitamins. drink plenty of water to clean your system, try to eat. its not good not to eat even though you cant, you have to try. get plenty of sleep/rest. and smoke a Ganja.

Posted by Saka on Mar-20-2008 15:34:

you get over it... eventually.

But its just like herpes. You can have an outbreak and share waters with someone then give the person mono.

Well I'd much rather have a mono outbreak [where its probably a simple sore throat for a couple days] than a fuking herpes outbreak.

You might not even have a blantantly obvious outbreak but can still pass it to someone else. Thats what sucks about it!

ooh and the symptoms for mono don't have to show till like 3 months AFTER u kiss someone.

Posted by elFreak on Mar-20-2008 15:48:

pffft...thats nothing. I can give people aids just by looking at them.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Mar-20-2008 15:51:

Mononucleosis usually isn't very serious, although the virus remains in your body for life. Most people have been exposed to the Epstein-Barr virus by the time they're 35 years old and have built up antibodies. They're immune and won't get mononucleosis again. Treatment mostly involves bed rest and getting adequate fluids.

Well i read that you are most infectious now and up to 18 months... I guess after that it just stays in your body. Not doing anything.

Can't you die from it though, like if you don't know you have it. Something about leaving your spleen vulnerable. I remember any one who had during football season wasn't allowed to play for months cause getting hit would mess them up...
