Cielo Disappointment

So last Thursday I went to check out Danny Howells at Cielo. I didn't buy the $20 advance tix online (highly unusual for me) and when I got to the cashier at 1 AM, the old bitch asked for $40. It's too bad because they lost me that night. It made me realize why sometimes Cielo turns off the true EDM fan who is there for the DJ, not just to be at a fucking trendy club. And they've been booking solid and I love the place. Oh well, I hope that the uber-cool Euro expatriates had fun as they rape America with their Euros and drink beers almost half off lol.

the reason cielo is an awesome club is because they don't mess around and let the riff raff in.....especially at 1am on a thursday.....you're lucky you even made it to the cashier. buy advanced tickets and get there early and more than likely you're gonna have a good time......unlike pacha were some guido doche bag will fist pump you in the head and spill your drink.

I am just surprised the show wasn't sold out to begin with & you got thru. I would have paid the $40 to get in though if I was there at 1am on Thursday. Other then that I don�t see what Europeans and euro's have to do with anything, but then it�s your rent. (not mine)

I gotta agree wit Brian and $4o to see Howells at Cielo is worth the money..Me and Sheila paid $100 for Sasha at Cielo..EACH..

this club is very exclusive when it comes to music and the crowd they want inside
best bet is to get advanced tickets and get their before 12
cause sometimes even if u have tickets the club could be at capacity because of its size
when i went for calderone in jan i paid 25 for advanced and i got right in at like 11:30 the guy behind me didnt have tickets and it was 45 at the door
and yea i kinda agree with u on the drink prices and stuff
cielo is fairly decent i would say but the thing is with that neihborhood theres no other like cheaper bar you can go to pregame before cielo

WTF does 1 AM on a Thursday have to do with it? 1 AM on a Thursday is not exactly world-wide party time. If anything it shoulda been cheaper...obviously the fact that I got through tells you that it wasn't packed. My friend saw Howells at WMC in Miami for $20 a few days before. Lol yes it was my "rent," and that's all it is, nothing more.

dont need to get mid-evil on me but some work on thursdays & fridays & have families to stop them from being out @ 1am on weekday. And please, rent away, i can care less, but if you start a thread expect comments.

AY, this is nothing. 2 years back we go to VC at Surf Club and I paid $30 at the door in the early aftrnoon. then walked outside around 6pm or so to give $40 to my friend to get in and by the time he comes up to pay they want $50. (a matter of 10 minutes, huh)

The party was awesome. Cielo is by far the best club in the city (Love close 2nd, but not nearly as attractive of clientele). Cielo is always packed on Thursdays, which is usually when they bring the top DJs because on weekends, it's packed without them. There's usually a good number of Meat Packing suits who take up the tables and are willing to pay top dollar for admission and bottles. They are the types that are targeted with the door prices, and rightfully so. Buy advanced tickets (they were available in the AM when I bought mine for that night).

To be honest, when you see how crowded it is every Thursday, you're an idiot not to get advanced tix. Barosoap and I know people there and go often enough that the bouncers recognize us, yet we still get advanced tix or get on the house list for the same price as advanced. Plus you usually get to skip the line with them.

To Steve Neil's comment, we paid less, but still had to pay off the bouncers after waiting nearly 2 hours (all of Willie Graff's set).

i showed up tp howells at 145...and they werent letting nobody in (fire marshall) i stood next to hernan cattaneo & zabiella for 40 minutes while they counted heads...then it was hard tickets/guest list no cashier sales

personally i love cielo...and would pay anythign to see the right dj in there (guetta/sven were some of my favorite party nites ever)

Most people know from all my rants and bad stories, going to Cielo after 1:00am on a Thursday night is a bad idea. Like Brian mentioned above, you are very lucky that you even got inside. I tried two Cielo Thursday night parties after 1am and was denied entry after waiting on line for 2 hours.

Tuesday on the other hand is entire different story. I went last night at around 1:30 and walked right inside without any problems.

Clearly you have not been in NYC long enough lol. This is the city that NEVER SLEEPS LOL. There are crowded events going on every night of the week. Cielo's Thursday parties have been the place to be for years......and when somebody like Howells is spinning you're lucky they were not charging $50 - 70 to get in. 90% of the time your ass is going home if you show up after 12 without a hot ass chick. Deal with it!

So true, and not just Thursdays, been there other nights of the week and it's just as packed. One thing that there isn't in this city is lack of people, especially since in the hospitality industry the weekend is Sunday - Wednesday. You can pack a place on a Monday ANYWHERE.

LOLLL, I once showed up around like 12:45, but got in cause I was on the DJ's GL at the time. I then see these 4 rich dudes trying to get in and the bouncer goes, "You guys buying a bottle ?" The guys go no, he goes sorry, you cant go in. Then all 4 are like ok, we want a bottle then. I started to chuckle inside realizing how fun it was to have GL priveledges and feel like a somebody over some Wall Street business ppl.

Yeah you guys are right......Cielo blows.....I'm never going there again. Instead I'm just gonna sit at home and bitch about it all night from now on.
