I know!

the two most annoying things to happen when you're making a mix for CD and you're like at 40 mins

1) you are needed somewhere in the house arggggg

2) you make a complete and utter awful trainwreck

Woohh tell me about it. It happens to everyone I guess; I always lock the door when I want to record my mix, but that usually doesn't stop people knocking on it and the odd phonecall.

The thing I don't get is how poeple always time it to interrupt you when you are mixing. Its scary, inbetween mixes nothing, when I'm mixing its like everyone wants me. And its worse when they stand there and wait for you to finish mixing like 6 frigging inches away from your face, like back off please.

if i ever make it big style, i think ill be on stage in a bullet proof and sound proof glass box. inside will be my own 2 small speakers so that i can hear myself cueing up. lol. that way i can still see crown, i just cant hear them, heh, that would be a first wouldnt it!

um.. shouldn't make too much of a difference.. at parties there is a hell of a lot more people trying to talk to me then when im recording.. if u are concentrating, just fucking ignore them, ignore the phone, just be in ur own world.. or at least try to.. when im recording, i usually mess up on my own accord (ie. trainwreck, not paying attention to faders or eq controls..etc) not because people interrupt me (i'm pretty good about completely ignoring and tuning someone out when im mixing)

it's all about the recording studio...

me and a friend used to do our recording in our radio station's production studio... it even has one of them red lights and all...

but really... just turn off the cell/take your phone off the hook, put a big note on the door, and get down to business... however, getting used to distractions will make you just that much better when it comes down to playing in a club or something

yes i understand that and im pretty used to distractions...the thing is Im currently in the process of making a CD...meaning the mix has to be flawless...NO MISTAKES

don't u need some type of copywritten permission or something to use someones track for a mix that you are going to sell for profit?

Posted by j_spot on May-14-2002 06:00:

you can sell your demo tapes copyright free if you only cover you own costs..this could be taken to mean computer, softwares, CDs, etc

Posted by hapamoto on May-14-2002 06:08:

never thought of selling my demo.. i just give them away to people.. didn't think anyone would buy an unknown dj's cd..

Posted by mr_sick on May-14-2002 07:26:

Hey, it happens to me everytime too =)

I blew my cell phone because of that, someone called @ about 65 / 70 min of my mix, every transition was really good, then I missed the last one just because of the phone call, I threw my cell on my wall then SBAAAAAM

Posted by DJTJ on May-14-2002 14:10:

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean, the fat bastard sat next to me right now always phones me when I'm trying to record!

Posted by djkonami on May-14-2002 17:13:

yeah, the worst thing in the world is when you are 50min done a 74min set and your just starting to fade the other track out and VROOOM!!! the needle slips across the record, and to my suprise its my gf standing there reaching for something behind the turntable! AHHH!!!
