Creative Zen or Ipod?
The Classic 80 gig ipod or 16 gig creative zen? One is hard drive and one is flash drive. I listen to it on the train, at the gym and at home.
Which would you buy?
i dont know much about the zen but ive had three different ipods, all of which have died on me. my suggestion is to stay the hell away from apple products
I've had nothing but great experiences with the Ipod. I listen to my 40gb model every night at work roughly 6 hours and have been doing so for over 2 years. Still works perfectly. Same with my dad's 20GB. Apple makes quality products..Just don't drop them and you'll be fine

| Originally posted by biznology i did buy the zen, 16...and i love it. it might need a firmware update, which i had a few probs with, and eventually worked out with no data loss. but over all it does everything great. if you havent used a creative before tho, note that they use ID tags to organize music. you can make playlists to get around this, like i do, but for some people that is just too much hassle. (although WMP11 and winamp can help you re tag them, as well as some other programs) |
ive got a 30 gig zen
i love it to bits, does everything i want it to do
never ever had a problem with it

Price is a factor, so no Itouch for me. Looking to spend $250 all around with accessories and maybe headphones.
Thank you for your help! I think I would be able to figure out the software. Any problems with Vista?
Zen.
Pods are rubbish made for idiots who like flashy, gimmicky commercials and aesthetically pleasing products, rather than useful products made by companies with some clue of what they're doing.

Definitely stay away from the iTouch, but nothing wrong with the Classic iPod. I've had my 30gb model for almost 2 years and have only ever had one problem which was during a firware update. Just had to reset it and it was fine.
Don't listen to idiots who spew hate for the iPod just because it's the cool thing to do. If there's one thing that Apple can do right, it's the iPod. Classic model to specific.
As for the Zen, I've also heard generally good things about it too. It's pretty sturdy, but some people do complain that it can be a bit tough to get used to. Personal preference I guess. Go down to the shops and give both a go.
There's also the storage issue to factor in. The iPod has much more space but is a bit more expensive correct?
Regardless of what you get, you might want to spend a bit more on good headphones too. The Sennheiser CX300s are very popular for a very good reason, and shouldn't set you back more than US$50.
I have gone down to the shops, but I didn't have a listen, just looked. I don't think any were connected. Damn Dick Smith and JB hi-fi. I don't have much time to decide, I can get it with the US price, which is cheaper than in Australia. I have like 12 hours to decide, before my mom gets on a plane here.
I have been debating between these two for days, I can't decide. I do hate Apple though and I don't like how you are limited, but I do like the space. The Zen will be good for the gym b/c of the flash drive, so I am leaning towards that. I sit on City Rail too often, not by choice
, I need something to keep me occupied as well...
You can test run them if you ask the staff. You feel limited with the iPod? In what way? Seems like you've decided already anyway so go grab the Zen
Oh and if you're catching the train in Sydney, you will DEFINITELY want the CX300s. You can get them from Apple stores, Dick Smith etc for about AU$70.

I NEVER use iTunes. On a mac it's pretty decent, on a windows machine it's absolutely shithouse. MediaMonkey Gold ftw!

The smalls are on by default and they are wayyy too small for anyone but children.. Most of the sound will leak out of your ear canal if you use them. Try the medium or large tips for the earbuds and you will have a perfect fit...total noise isolation and a solid BOOM effect in your brain. They kick ass |

get an iphone
if i were you, i would get an ipod nano. i have owned:
sony minidisc
sony netmd
classic ipod
nike mp3 player from the early days
transcend t.90
ipod nano
the ipod nano is the only one i have gotten good use out of. all the others were far too big. sure, they only hold 1-2gb, but that is plenty if you rotate your playlist once a week or so. these mega huge storage ones are just ridiculous imo. also, you will never take them to the gym. having something like that bouncing around in your pocket is a pain in the butt.
wat wat
in the butt

Sansa View 16gb
Comes with more features than ipod, far better overall quality and the thing is built like a tank.
