Paul van Dyk ‘Far Away’ Remix Competition at BEATPORT.com
I found this while browsing the internet
Of course again one of Beatport's "must by samples" remixes
http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item...dyk-for-vandit/
1. The contest is being judged on originality of remix, not sound quality. You do not need to download the WAV files to enter the remix contest, unless of course you want to. If your remix is chosen as a winner, there will be time to have your tracks mastered to highest quality.
2. Remix the track into your chosen style. All genres are welcome.
3. Submit your remix to Beatportal’s remix website. All entries must include full contact details, telephone number and postal address. Note: If your submission is not accepted, your file is too large. Your MP3 is limited to no more than 10 MB in size.
4. The submission phase of the Paul van Dyk ‘Far Away’ Remix Competition starts on May 12th 2008 at 2.01pm MST and ends on June 2nd 2008 at 11.59pm MST.
5. The voting phase of the Paul van Dyk ‘Far Away’ Remix Competition starts on June 3rd 2008 at 12.01am MST and ends on June 23rd 2008 at 11.59pm MST.
6. 15 remixes will be submitted as voted by the Beatportal community votes along with 15 Beatport selected remixes, from which one winner and two runners-up will be chosen by Paul van Dyk and announced on Beatportal on July 16th 2008.
7. The winning remix will be released on Beatport.
8. Tracks using uncleared samples from sources outside of these ‘Far Away’ parts will be disqualified.
9. All remixes submitted for this contest become the legal property of Paul van Dyk GmBH, along with Avex Asia Limited, JVC, Be Yourself Music, Dance Paradise Russia, Cabeza de Raton Music Colombia, EMI Music Mexico, Liberator Music, Magic Records, Matrix Music, EMI Records/Positiva, Mute, Sheer, Vale Music Spain, Odyssey, DVD Liider Estonia, Universal Music and PHONOKOL Israel.
10. All trademarks and logos are protected. All rights of the producer and the owner of the recorded work are reserved. Unauthorized copying, hiring, renting, public performance and broadcasting of this record, remix or remix parts is prohibited.
Has Anyone got the Midi for any of the parts as your not getting much free parts with this comp....
So once I submit MY remix, I can't legally distribute it to my friends?
I think the main synth is the most important part I didnt download yet
yes but i want the midi notes so i can make my own sounds instead of using his sounds thats all.
oh shit is wav/mp3 not midi ooh ok lol
Sry man
yeah no probs easy mistake.
Sounds like fun
I think the samples have way too much delay/reverb on them for them to distributed as remix parts, why couldnt PVD include dry parts instead

Thanks... just bought the pack and got the other two samples as well. Nice to have... although I do see what you are saying, Stef de Roux, about the samples and reverb.
Number 3 concerns me a bit - you're gonna get a crap quality track unless you cut the start-end points of the track to boucne it at 320kbs. How the hell are you gonna get a track to sound good at <128kbs on MP3?

Need the midi files, even just for the lead!! Are there any programs that can extract the midi sequence from a wav file? Otherwise I guess its just trial and error trying to play it on the keyboard.

When I had Windows I remember finding a couple freebies and cheapies that didn't do a bad job. Edit: I'm away from my computer (on my BB now) otherwise I'd post a link...and out of town with no access to Ableton and my controller until Saturday otherwise I'd hammer it out. |

Must say that I am getting a bit sick of this shit.
- You want to hold a remixcompetition, because,
- You want to discover new talent, on which,
- You can probably make a lot of money out.
And that you let us pay to download some damn samples!!!
You guys might disagree but I am getting so sick that we have to pay for the samples to enter a remixcomp. Indeed, the original track is included to, but if I don't want it. Is not like you can create a entire remix based on the two free samples you can download.
Fuck this, I ain't entering!!
Sorry for the faulty language
Not gonna lie..."Far Away" is a one hell of a bland track. I love Giuseppe and Paul...but I was shocked at the out come of this track.
Hooray for the new "pay to remix" thing
the probably make more money with selling samples than with the actual tune
