DC10 - Circoloco Closed Again

Closed down this week for 57 days. Talk of Amnesia might have to close down this year again.

Sucks for people who have booked (I thought of going back this year just for those two clubs).

So friggin glad I went last year.

There are some great points made in that article. It's a shame, really. I HIGHLY regret not booking one of my trips so that I could have made it to DC10 on a Monday.

Honestly, fuck Ibiza. This is the 2nd year this has happened now. By shutting down clubs on a moments notice, the Ibizan authorities have no respect for tourists that spend the whole year saving and planning to come to Ibiza. DC10 is the best club Ive been to around the world, and is a diamond in the rough among an army of cloned superclubs.

I have a feeling this could spell the beginning of the end for this place. Im lucky I didnt book my trip to Ibiza this year because DC10 would have been the main reason for going.

Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.

Posted by kaniz on Jun-24-2008 12:34:

On the other hand, I've also heard that Ibiza is also cracking down on clubs because they attract a "low quality of tourist" - so perhaps they dont mind pissing off clubbers?

Seems silly though to pretty much give a big middle-finger to your biggest industry through.

Sad news for ibiza.

I feel that all the bad press the island is getting in the last year or 2 will reduce the island's appeal and less and less will go.

This might cause ibiza to become cheaper as demand diminishes. Ibiza is quite the money pit right now.

"(In addition to DC-10) Kumharas that will be closed for 2 months and not Amnesia or other clubs."

Posted by _EuG_ on Jun-24-2008 15:55:

I was looking forward to spending Monday June 30 at DC10 but because of this bullshit it will not happen. I was extremely pissed when I found out about this last week. I accepted this change and will still make the best out of my first time in Ibiza.

Amnesia served their sentence last year so I really doubt that they will be forced to close again.

Demand is indeed dropping. In the article it states that some 20,000 fewer clubbers have landed in Ibiza in comparison to this same time last year. That is a lot of money if you think about it!`

yep, I have been wanting to go to Ibiza and had originally made plans to go this year. But I wont until I know that the reason I am GOING is set in stone. (at this point will that ever happen?) Dont wanna drop $4 grand on a trip that is less than satisfying.

I doubt there is a huge correlation between the club drama and reduced island attendance. You also have to look at the weaker global economy as well as rising travel costs (fuel costs, etc).

I think DC10 is shutting down for 57 days... I'm in Ibiza from September 1st-15th, so with any luck they will be open by then!

Posted by VDub on Jun-24-2008 20:30:

DC-10 is the Comfort Zone of the island so they're bound to get their balls broken...

What they shoulda done was say they were open 57 days early...

Then they woulda been ok for the actual season...

From what I recall of an article I read on Ibiza, the locals (the people who would normally cater to tourists and encourage the industry) can't stand it. There are a lot of fucked up, inconsiderate clubbers from around the world who they claim have trashed the beauty of their island. Personally if I lived on an island off the coast of Spain and people like you guys took over the place with your crazy weird music, I'd be pretty pissed too. ; )

That's enough Sarah, shouldn't you be reading some charters or ammendments or something?

While I agree that if I lived there I wouldn't want to be over run by club goers every summer. I also loved a lot of the non club things in Ibiza and if I went back only a small portion of my time would be spent in the clubs. However, you can't build up your economy and industry based on these super clubs and then decide you don't want them. Also waiting until the last minute after many people have booked flights and hotels is not cool.

I was considering a 48 hour bender when I was heading back to Europe this week (Space Sunday afternoon, DC10, Coccoon)...glad I choose Awakenings and Berghain instead.

Posted by 1dawoman on Jun-25-2008 04:19:

this makes my blood boil...this was the one club I didn't have a chance to experience during my short visit, so going to DC 10 is one of the main reason I want to go back......

maybe I'm too optimistic, but I have a feeling these closures are going to blow over after this summer.....

beg to differ

the club has been open. its extremely difficuly to understand the logic behind spanish politics but heres how it works if another club wants your club closed during the summer season anythings possible

WOW seeing that video reminded of he insanity that is circo Loco.

If that places closes i think the event organizers could totally take CIRCO LOCO on a world wide tour. I think the next level would be ann amazing place to have the party in toronto..

They already do. I went to the one in Amsterdam in April.

Good call on that one! Based on the bookings at Next Level (ie same old, same old), I doubt that will happen any time soon though.
