I def agree. Heath Ledger nailed the joker character. There was not a point in the whole movie when I got bored. Great action and Two Face looked wicked.

Awesome movie!

Rarely do things live up to the hype, Losing your virginity is kinda awkward. First round draft picks fizzle out, but this movie blew my mind.
The movie was so well put together.
Heath Ledger played the best Joker I can imagine, it was as if he was born to play that role.(RIP)
Jack Nicholson couldn't have dreamed to play that roll any better than Heath Ledger did.
The only thing I wish was for Katie Holmes, her cute ass would've put this movie above & beyond. Wink
Otherwise, Im thinking of going to watch it again cause the movie was simply awesome.

Pat your crazy, TDK was awesome. I can't say enough good things about it.

Posted by PatMcGroin on Jul-20-2008 22:38:

theres so much bullshit in this film its not even funny...

BEWARE SPOILERS BELOW!

first let me start by saying, okay, the film wasnt "terrible" but it wasnt anywhere near what i expected. thus why i believe its garbage.

christian bale is the worst batman ever... he simply cannot fucking act. he has no emotions as either batman or bruce wayne. hes just a statue. and why the fuck is his voice so different whenever hes wearing the batsuit? i had the same issue during batman begins. utterly retarded.

secondly, i cannot believe they couldnt bring back katie holmes for this one. shes the worst actress in history and was absoulte shit in batman begins, but jesus maggie gyellhall or however the fuck her last name is spelled is just as bad. i actually cheered when she fucking died.

heath ledger while good was no where near the top of his game. i feel bad for him and his family cuz hes dead and all but just because he died doesnt mean he automatically deserves an oscar, which he'll probably get anyway. really all heath ledger did was change is speech pattern a little bit and have some weird look under the makeup. there was no range in his character at all. and yes people, there was supposed to be. there were moments he was supposed to more serious and other moments he was supposed to be more comical. ledger did a terrible job adjusting to those scenes. his character acted the same way in each one of the situations. and it really bugged me that EVERY SINGLE TIME he was on screen everyone in the audience was cracking up at shit that wasnt even funny. yes, when he first came on screen and said some shit, it was funny. but it wasnt funny EVERY SINGLE TIME. but i guess the general public views it differently. its more like "awwww, hes dead, lets make him out to be some fucking hero." gimme a break.

moving on... while the two face story was done pretty well it took far too long to develop and then they just killed two face off at the end without barely any climatic buildup. poooooor poor job done by the producers of this film. the buildup took far too long for him to just fall from the building and then be dead.

the whole first hour of the movie was total garbage really. all character development for characters that dont need any. all those mob guys got so much screen time and background but then just died without it even being a big deal in 0.2 nanoseconds. complete waste of film to even shoot half those scenes imo.

morgan freeman quitting in the end? okay, yes makes some sense because he didnt like how batman was using the technology. fine. but the technology gets destroyed at the end so why the fuck does morgan freeman still quit??????? thats what morgan freeman wanted, so he gets it, and then still quits! wtf?!

the accountant guy who figures out who batman is... WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE POINT OF THAT? yes the first scene where he tells morgan freeman about it, funny, yes. but then when he comes out again and then theres that action scene. totally pointless to even include the accountant in that. another waste of 15 minutes in the movie.

that sonar technology batman uses at the end... okay, sorry... TOTAL HORSESHIT! yes it is possible to use a cell phone signal to locate where that person is in the world. but to be able to use it so that batman has 3d vision... BULLSHIT!!! and as soon as batman goes into the under construction building, WHY IS HE STILL USING THE TECHNOLOGY???? esp when hes fighting with the joker. theres a scene where a punch from the joker seems to come out of nowhere... batman sees the punch too late but is using the sonar technology... if the joker was hiding behind a fucking wall, batman should of been able to see him using the technology... but even still he was fighting the joker hand to hand so there was no need for the technology. it obviously didnt help him!!! and even the whole time they are fighting how is this technology even working because no one is on the fucking phone!!!!!!

more issues i have... they never showed the joker dying... i dont think they elaborated enough on what made two face actually go evil. i mean yea we all know why cuz stupid rachel dawes died but the whole movie didnt even show their love story really so why the sudden switch to evil??? gay gay gay.

too many scenes as well where shot too dark. yes i understand its happening at night but when i cant see where batmans punch is coming from its because its poor art direction. and i had a good seat in the theatre. middle of the screen in height just a little offcentered to the left. so it wasnt my view that let me not see shit. it was the fucking movie.

oh and dont get me started on the fact that the batmobile gets shot with a bazooka or whatever and it doesnt work for crap but then all of a sudden the batbike works... HAHAHAHHAH... such garbage. also when batman almost runs the joker over with the batbike and then goes up a wall and immediatly comes to a complete stop. JESUS CHRIST, ON THIS PLANET THERE ARE THINGS CALLED PHYSICS AND THAT IS TOTAL BULLSHIT! sir isaac newton would be turning over in his grave if hed seen that shit.

i realize im taking a lot of these scenes too far... "its just a movie" esp a comic book movie... and all that crap. but when i find soooooooooooo many things wrong with a movie the first time i see it... thats when i say things like...

THE DARK KNIGHT SUCKED!

now please, if someone can please explain to me WHYYYYYYYYY the fuck this movie was "good" and "amazing" and all that bullshit... id like to hear it. because as of now, all ive heard from everyone is "it was amazing and mindblowing" but not a single fucking person can explain to me whyyyyyy. ive done my explaining... now lets hear some counter arguements.

overall, this movie was about as good as batman begins. not amazingly mind blowing nor absolute suckage... but just the fact that everyone is making this one out to be the best movie of the year (all because heath ledger died) is total bullshit.

which is really sad. because regardless of the rant if this movie would of come out before heath ledger died no one would of cared. it would of gotten just as much attention as batman begins, which simply wasnt much.

and yet again... another example of someone who cant explain WHY the movie was actually good. i know some of you can... but morons like this fool suck christians bales dick but dont know why.

I saw Dark Knight today and thought the movie was great. Christian Bale was great as usual in all his movies and Heath Ledger was great as the joker. To respond to Pat, Christian can definitely act and is not the worst Batman. Christian was great in Amercan Psycho and the Machinist. Christian definitely brings that darkness to the Batman character that's needed. Unlike George Clooney, Val Kilmer and Michael Keaton. And Christian talks different so he doesn't sound like Bruce Wayne when in costume. He's trying to keep his ID secret.

Heath Ledger was great and his performance is inspiring as Jack Nicholson in the 1st new Batman movie. Of course Heath brought a more dark side to the Joker than Jack. I recall everyone excited about Jack's performance back then too.

My problems were the Two face story and thought it was rushed and maybe even not necessary. It made the movie run a little long. The spying by listening at the phone calls was a thinly veiled stab at the government and a little too far fetched. I didn't care for Maggie G either. She seems like an annoying person and it comes through her character.

Still a great movie and will buy on BD when it comes out.

dude its a movie, who cares if its unrealistic, you're acting like the person who tells little kids theres no Santa and laughs in their face. you should watch documentaries instead of blockbuster movies that are entertaining

THANK YOU! i dont 100% agree with you but still thank you! im just so sick and tired of talking to people asking them why they thought it was good and no one being able to explain it. atleast you were able to accomplish that!

i may have gone overboard on my explanation but its very frustrating when i talk to everyone and they simply dont believe that i didnt like it. its like its unacceptable that i didnt like the movie. and thats bullshit.

come one guys when has Pat Mcgroin had anything positive to say about anything, and i mean anything? the glass is always half empty with this guy. i withhold judgement about the movie till i see it myself, but from what i heard from friends is that Heath had a stellar performance, bale was kinda of blah, and the movie falls apart at the end, but overall a decent flick because of Ledgers intensity.

Fucking BADASS motherfuking movie!

Biggest C. Bale complaint was the gay Batman voice lol.

This is by far the best fuking Joker & he was different...he was just as the comic book portrayed him (completely fuking insane) & without regard for anything, he never had motives for anything he just did what he wanted. The makeup, the action, the plot was just as it should have been.

I admit two face was a little short lived but I honestly doubt he is dead and if he is it's not so different than in the comic (which he didn't have such a huge role in anyway)
Morgan Freeman quitting was a little disappointing but he even said to Bruce what he was doing about tapping into everyone's conversations and privacy was wrong, he did not like that & didn't want part of it...although I think he MAY come back but then again if Morgan Freeman decided he didn't want that role anymore they obviously had to find a good way to finish his job with Batman.

The most awesome scene is the truck scene...OMFG everyone in the theather was like DAAAMN!

Who really cares about the actors they chose...the one that really mattered in this one was the Joker (being the biggest villan of Batman). The focus was on his role as the Joker & in that regard I think Ledger delivered very well. C. Bale proved to be a good actor for Batman in Batman Begins (when the focus was obviously on him & how he became Batman).
All in all, the movie has been rated by the critics (who are biased idiots in a lot of cases) and they gave it an A overall & the THOUSANDS of yahoo users also averaging an A.
It's pure fact, this Batman was the best yet! If you didn't like it, chances are you don't know much about the comics or maybe have to go against the tide.

I can't wait to see it again @ the IMAX!

um, Batman didn't see the punch because the beating he took right before that messed up the 3d technology. They showed it flickering on and off, thats why the punch completely surprised him.

The Batmobile was terribe in Batman Begins and terrible here. The bike was dumb too but its all comic book stuff.

The Joker was amazing and I thought he showed enough range. If you think about how a person would really act like that than it was good. He wasn't playing someone trying to "act" the right way, he was playing it like he was the Joker. Hopefully that makes sense.

Bale is supposed to be stoic and not show a lot of emotion. Bruce Wayne is a dark guy. Have you ever read the comics? He isn't Spider-Man or even the earlier incarnations of Batman.

I thought the Rachel story was pretty bad... if you can't get the same girl don't bother with it. I like Maggie G but not in this movie. She isn't a stunner and she isn't likeable enough in this movie or Batman Begins to warrant creating Two-Face from her death. She couldn't answer yes to the proposal but we're supposed to believe they have such an intense romance?

Regardless of that stuff I loved the film. They didn't show Joker die because he didn't. Not sure why you thought he died. He was hanging upside down on the rope and the cops showed up. He will be in Arkham Asylum and in 10 years when the next "visionary" director comes along and finds someone willing and able to handle the roll there will be another Joker.

Good point on the mob stuff - way too much screen time for them.

But who cares about Morgan Freeman quitting? To me he distracts and detracts from the movie, along with Batman Begins. It should be a bit part, too many names will make it seem like Batman and Robin.

Agreed 100%

the Joker NEVER dies in the comic which in turn he didn't die in the movie, he was captured lol.

but the whole point of the technology was to just locate where he was... once he found them, what was the point of continuing to use it? once he was fighting the joker there was no need to use it anymore! if he wouldnt of been using it, he WOULD of seen that punch coming. i dunno. i call bullshit on that. and i call bullshit on most of the movie.

its just too much of a stretch for me.

right, but he had to do that at the location? morgan freeman couldnt do it from the office or whatever? it just makes no sense. and who was on the phone the entire scene that even made all of that possible??? no one.

and how come batman was able to build that technology all by himself but everything else he needs morgan freeman for?

also one more issue you just reminded me of... batman warns the cops about the building and they all go and surround the building with dogs and everything, but then when two face dies by falling off the building the cops are no where to be seen. for like 5 minutes theres no cops anywhere. then at the end all of a sudden they are back again. its just terrible movie making. either the editors were absolute shit (highly doubt that because of the budget involved in this film) or they just didnt care enough.

i dunno... if you enjoyed this movie then good for you... and if you can explain why then even better. i just cant believe how terrible it was. its so disappointing.

i agree with patmcgroin. this movie was a bit too silly and over the top.

i liked the love story how a decision had to be made. loved the truck scene, the snatching the asian guy from hong kong scene, the scene when it was revealed gary oldman's character is still alive (everyone clapped for that), the making the pencil dissapear magic trick, the batman imposters wearing hockey gear, and the batmobile and bike was badass.

i did not like when batman falls from a skyscraper onto a taxi cab and both him and the girl live, i liked the joker but think it was overhyped because of heath ledgers death - his joker laugh was cheesy and the way he talked was cheesy. i dont like how they tried to cram 2 movies into 1 movie, it was just too much squeezed into 1 movie, towards the end there was too much going on and a bit confusing. the 2 face character was rushed and not realistic, definitely hated the 2 ferry boat social experiment. didnt like how batman frames himself in a hurried decision to save the public's opinion of what's his face and the justice system in general.
