Same questions to you pkcRAISTLIN..

IMO, the top two are well deserved to be up there. I'd knock Halo off the third spot though, but not too far down. For a console FPS, it was one of the best available.

Actually, the top 3 are pretty accurate. Maybe they aren't representative of best games in the genre in terms of quality, but in terms of influence, they definitely deserve their spots. Halo 3 generated more money than a summer blockbuster movie. Maybe it wasn't very good, but its insanely popular, and maybe that it was the list creator was going for...?

youre right, but i still doubt halo's "influence" on the rest of the genre. however when i think of "top" lists i think of quality and not necessarily the influence.

well, to be fair i havent played nearly enough console shooters to make a definitive list, however i could make a fairly good PC one.

but its ridiculous to include light-gun games in a FIRST PERSON shooters list. they are a completely different genre.

other games i would remove

serious sam
halo
whilst quake was the very first entirely 3d shooter ever, quake 3 is a much better game, and CoD4 is a much better game than the original CoD.

dark forces should be there somewhere too.

and which game is tom clancy rainbow six? do they mean rogue spear?

I think they're just trying to avoid having sequels in the same list, which is pretty ridiculous considering the differences between some of them.

Yeah but it's not a proper sequel, it's a spiritual successor, kinda like bioshock was to system shock.

I see your point though - there's more difference between the Quake games than there was between far cry and crysis.

How any of those games made this list is beyond me. Utter fucking trip or just not FPS to begin with - all of them.

It looks like they haven't played the games on the list that much or any games at all. How is halo better then crysis ? Wheres splinter cell? This is a really shitty list. Especially since it has a no sequals rule which is just stupid(I notice they included both far cry and crysis... retards). I mean fair enough no seperate entries for each hl episode but comon.

I think that's considered to be a sequel to Goldeneye, which IS on the list, and since no sequels allowed, that explains it.

Not that saying that redeems this list by any means. The inclusion of light gun games and Serious Sam pretty much nullifies all credibility here.
