So, I got myself a new LCD

And the very first one in my life, at that.

Link!

20'' 1680x1050 widescreen, 2 ms response time, 20000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, DVI and D-Sub connectors, very slick design.

Samsung huh? Why did you choose them? Was it the product, the brand, or the price?

PICS OR STFu

Samsung has been making good screens lately!

I still prefer Sony televisions over Samsung. And I have to agree with inconspicuous. If you're paying that much, might as well pay a little extra for ze hd.

Posted by THE_Chris on Jul-29-2008 20:48:

I was tempted to go 24inch with mine, but at my viewing distance it just gets too much. And I have no HD stuff anyway so I dont care

Posted by kamil on Jul-29-2008 20:58:

TN displays suck, so whatever amount you paid, you got jewed out of money.

I got a slick 24" LG 246WP, P-MVA panel, 1,000:1 contrast ratio 1920x1200 resolution, HDMI, component video input, 2 usb, etc

$349

But the big thing on it is P-MVA panel. Im never going back to TN displays.

Posted by THE_Chris on Jul-29-2008 21:14:

I was tempted to go P-MVA panel, but that LG has what, a 6 or an 8ms response which is shit for games. My Samsung has 2 officially (probably 3 in reality) which owns in games. Plus the colours are perfectly good enough for me

Edit: And TNs dont suck, I'm looking at mine now and I can safely say that it most certainly doesnt suck

they most certainly DO suck. view it at any odd angle, especially from below, and youll notice your colours will look like dogshit.

also, my monitor is *JUST FINE* for gaming, i dont notice any ghosting on it at all.

but gaming isnt important to me, design, photography and watching movies is whats important. the size of the monitor is pretty good for watching movies right in front on my bed, but if it were TN, id fucking lose it.

there is no reason to buy a samsung television anymore. their plasmas still look like crap and burn in, and almost all of their lcds have a gloss panel (the 530 being the one exception. for a cheap lcd, it's alright). why someone would buy an lcd with a high-gloss panel is beyond me.

edit: and all dlps scream hood rich.

Not quite. The price of T200 in Croatia is 1779 kn ($393) and the price of T200HD is 2899 kn ($640), which is a difference of $247.
Besides, I like T200's specifications over T200HD's.

I might. When I come back from work, though. I've been awake for 24 hours now and I got another 8 hour shift starting in an hour.

I've heard only good about their LCDs.

Posted by mndeg on Jul-30-2008 04:35:

ewww TN
6-8 ms is not terrible in gaming, it depends on how it's measured. I had a 22" (somebrand) from bestbuy and i returned it within a week. the colors were strange, viewing angle was strange, and it had problems with displaying a true black.

funny thing LG replaced their 24" P-MVA's with TN's because of their higher profit margins. the current LCD i'm using is discontinued.

You should have gotten a 3d lcd. IZ3D

I upgraded my PC recently and got a Synchmaster 245T, they're fairly good value for what they are.

I got a cheapo V7 22" TFT with a TN Panel. As I only sit at my pc, viewing angles make no difference, and the faster response time is good for gaming.

That said, every since I got my 32" Panasonic TV, I've noticed how the colours are a bit washed out and the contrast lacking when compared side by side, but then I did only pay 120 for the monitor.

So movies go through the tv, gaming done on pc.

1366x768 is crap to use as a monitor though.

I'd rather game at 1680x1050 on a 22" than 32" at 1366x768.
