Sad RIP Missy

for once, i actually approve of a cop's actions.

'what are you on?' lol.

Posted by Moongoose on Aug-19-2008 11:44:

I feel sorry for the cop because apparently he is the one who will get in trouble the most for this shit.

Seriously how is this on tv? Isnt anything else going on that people need to hear about than some stupid dog dying?

Posted by blacknoizybox on Aug-19-2008 11:52:

shit happens

i don't think the officers had the right to release them out of pity for the dog, or maybe...

What a tragedy

The police are right , how can the possibility of a crash of there vehicle and/or others that will maybe fatal or serious to other drivers justify a mad rush for a daft mutt.

Havent they heard of the heimlich!!

As much as that must absolutely suck, the cop is right imo.

WOW!!!!!

That couple needs to get their priorities straight!

And what really angers me is the fact that the officer is being punished for simply doing his job. He risked HIS life trying to pull that maniac over! And now he's being reprimanded for putting his life on the line for the general public?!?!

Of course he's going to say things like "What are you on?!" or "You can get another dog!". He was probably still having adrenaline pumping through him from having to weave through semi-trucks while chasing his ass down!

Simply put, justice was not served here. He should have booked him on the spot.

Another thing during the interview, the guy said that it took the officer over 20 minutes to write the ticket. In the full video, didn't the officer say that he was going to let him off with a warning because he was "a little sympathetic"?

Gotta love how the media twists things around for just a few minutes of airtime........

I think he said he was going to let the felony slide, in relation to running from the police, not the speeding ticket.

Posted by CGRumler on Aug-19-2008 13:48:

Ahhhh.....ok

I'm at work, so I've only had the chance to watch that video once.

But I'm still curious as to how the guy defines the officer "taking twenty minutes to write the ticket".

Does he mean twenty minutes after he got lectured or twenty minutes from the point of him finally PULLING OVER?

I still think that this guy should have went to jail for the night, minimum.

Posted by Slylee on Aug-19-2008 22:55:

stupid cops

dogs > people

duh lol

Posted by Moongoose on Aug-19-2008 23:16:

I think the cop should have shot the dog,at least that would stop the mutt choking.

Posted by Trancealot on Aug-20-2008 02:21:

In this case he should...

Left the owner's car there and take both the passengers and dog with them to the vet. Maybe not at 100 mph but that would be doing the right thing. The end result would be

1. Dog at least had a much much better chance to live
2. Officer would be looked upon as a hero for attempting to save the dog
3. The Dog Owner's would look highly upon cops from that day forward

Instead the video shows I think the worst case scenario of doing his job properly. Now for the rest of the Dog Owner's lives they will think maybe the dog would still be alive if it was not for the office keeping them there and the officer will probably get some hate mail for quite some time due to the media getting a hold of it.

Police will be in a new situation everyday of their job so they need to be prepared to end up with the best possible solution.

Fuck that pig... I have 2 dogs. They are my fucking kids... and ill be damed if i did stop fuck that Id keep going. fucking guy stops..fuck that. "if your going that fast you batter have a child in that car" "its a dog you can get another one" What an insensitive POS cop. its nice he let thy guy go..but still that shit didnt need to be said. SO many people have dogs cats whatever and dont have kids. They animals are their kids and this day and age the cop shouldnt have been such a dick.

and another thing.. the cop says its a dog you can get another one.. well you can get another kid too for that matter so what the hell are you saying you better have a child in the car if your going that fast. You know what do the speed limit your kid dies.. no worries just go home fuck your wife and boom you get another one and get to start all over and maybe this time do a better job as a mom and dad.. win win all the way around..

fucking pig

This is big shit here in Austin, San Marcos is just down the road. The way people are talking on the local Talk Radio and Newspapers, they want to crucify this cop. Dog owners here in Austin are damn near extremist...

"Its just a dog?" wtf is that?? He held them there for 20mins on the side of the road and the dog did die.

Officer reprimanded for delaying couple with sick dog

SAN ANTONIO A San Marcos police officer, who allegedly told two Texas State University students en route to an emergency veterinary clinic to "chill out, it's just a dog" regarding a sick teacup poodle, has been reprimanded.

The San Antonio Express-News reports Officer Paul Stephens, who allegedly told Krystal Hernandez and her boyfriend Michael Gonzalez, "You can buy another one" was made to watch the tape with his supervisor and counseled on how to improve his performance.

Missy, the dog, died on Aug. 5 while the couple waited 20 minutes for a speeding ticket from the officer.
