514/Sona, fuckem, bring on Aria!!!!

Hi all, this, I have been thinking about saying for a long time, but now that Biggy has released Arias June/early summer line-up, it is time...

Sorry Happy, I know you're a great guy, but I have to say this...

Aria management should hold more raves to really compete with 514, what do they have??? BEB??? To be rivals of Sona and their management, they should focus on the big names for raves they should throw... to really take advantage of such... they need to find out when 514 raves are to be held, and hold a rave the weekend before with bigger names than 514, that will knock 514 off its feet... 514 is really disappointing me, Sona is a dilapidated building not worth going anymore, well not until they move, hopefully it will be better... but for a trance addicts' (me) point of view... hmmm what will I prefer... a summer filled with 8 hour sets of XL, Preach, Lafleche, and other locals that should only be allowed to spin for an hour each, max, per week, or month... or a summer filled with huge names such as Misstress Barbara (I know a few of you dont like her, but I do...), Steve Lawler, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Howells, Rank-1, Astral Project etc, etc... What would really be nice, even though Aria is a great after hour, with its high tek sound and lights, its still a little too small for these names... If you were to bring all these names to different rave venues that can total in or more than 3000-4000 capacity, you would have the best of both worlds, for everyone (prove me wrong... look at Tiesto for example... no way could he play at Sona, way too small... that is exactly what happened for Sasha/Digweed)... I will still go to Aria something like 10 times this summer, to see the big names, which Aria has delivered, and Sona, once, not even... 514 raves... I will really have to see what the line-up will be like, but I won't count on much...

I mean, why even be bothered by 514... ok... Tiesto is an awesome DJ to have spin in Montreal, at a venue that is big enough to hold him, and I really thank 514 for bringing him, but other than that... not much... think about it, other than Tiesto in 2 weeks, and Picotto at swirl, which I heard (from friends) he wasn't that good (too hard) what have they really had at either raves or Sona??? (ok you may point out a DJ or two that I haven't mentionned, but still there is no way you can say anything... Celebration: XL, XL, XL, and Misstress Barbara, I think I heard Sanchez, but he may have played for 15 minutes WHEN XL ATE HIM AND TOOK OVER.... Sona: Sasha/Digweed (but way too many people, you were barely able to breath let alone dance) ... Other raves before that, same thing, XL/Lafleche/Preach, I mean, JESUS CHRIST... I'm fed up...

I've had enough... Aria... you've shown me what Montreal Night Life is all about... 514/Sona... forget about it... you don't deserve my money (except for Tiesto)...

This may piss a lot of people off, but thats my way... be all the way straight up or shut the fuck up and go to the corner.... seriously...

My 2 cents, but I think that was worth a couple of bucks...

I am happy to see some people who like the line-up for this summer.
Thank you man.
But it's not over, I will add many more names for this summer so be ready for a crazy summer.
As for raves party, you will hear some news really soon.
We are working on something really cool, big, different etc.. right now.

Posted by El-See on May-27-2002 02:07:

Yeah I guess you are right....Aria is much better than 514.

Here are the aspects I think are better at ARIA:

- SOUND -----> the sound is CLEAR, unlike the SONA, or 514 sound system that you can only hear the BOUM BOUM BOUM and not the high frequencies!

- DJ'S ----> they have much better dj's than 514. Biggy should work on getting Tiesto next fall!

- PLACE ----> Aria has a much nicer place!! We have room to dance and the dj is located at a great spot! The lightings are also amazing. Biggy should work on getting LASERS and it would be perfect!

The only thing Sona has more than Aria is the goodlooking PEOPLE. People are much more goodlooking at Sona than at Aria. It may sound stupid, but when there are some goodlooking people, it attracts more people to the place! Je ne sais pas ca serait quoi la solution, mais ce n'Est pas d'engager des danseurs en tk!!!

Thank God Aria was born....'cause I wouldn't have get to see all the magnificent dj sets I heard lately -----> ARMIN, FERRY, ORNADEL. Can't wait for GIELEN, RANK 1, OAKENFOLD.

Biggy, can't wait to see what kind of event you'll produce soon! You should get some HARD TRANCE dj's out there ----> DUMONDE, COSMIC GATE, BLANK & JONES. They can drive the crowd crazy!!!!

Thanks again Biggy for all you've done for the trance scene...and hope you'll continu to surprise us!

i smell some boring xl and laflche

Posted by TechnoFreak on May-28-2002 20:58:

ok... i have to retrack my statement... i think sona is the best after hour in the whole entire world, i mean look at these fabulous names... I'm sorry aria... i much prefer listening to XL for 200000000000000000000 hours straight and give myself 50 annurisms in doing so, rather than listening to these no names such as oakenfold, howwles, lawler and rank-1.. i mean where did you dig up these losers... they dont understand what trance is... i believe that XL is the best trance DJ in the world....

IN CASE ANY OF YOU ARE REALLY SLOW OR HAVE SOMETHING LIKE 50 SCREWS LOOSE, I WAS KIDDING AROUND... how can sona, still maybe considered by many peoples eyes be the best after hour in montreal... I dont understand what is wrong with the sona management... they used to have the best DJs come to montreal... its been something like a good 6-7 months that we havent heard the big namesfrom them... maybe its because most djs are afraid of XLs stomach, hey and thats why Tiesto chose to spin for sona management, XL won't even be there... as for picotto... he has balls for showing up at swirl, when XL was looking on drooling... i dont get it... whatever... ARIA ROCKS, SONA SUCKS....

Posted by SpoutnicK on May-28-2002 21:52:

Well even if no comaprison can be made between SONA and ARIA, the lin up in Arie is much better then SONA's. Maybe they are preparing something as Zing said but idon't think they can have better the ARIA.
Thanx BIGGY for the coming summer, and also thanx For my old friend Zing.

Happy ma nsitak, b7ebbak ya gamil

sona's line up looks really shit, but they dont need the names, sona is a big enough name already to draw a crowd, especially tourists from the u.s who come up from burlington in khakis, everyone in cargo's lets go to peel pub and then sona

oh ya xl sucks donkey ballz, im sure i saw him eating donuts while spinning at sona(just kidding)
peace

i really thought would bring more names to compete...maybe they will add more

props to biggy again

Posted by Biggy on May-29-2002 05:01:

Almost impossible to bring big names for June and July.
Many dj's are in Ibiza this summer and they are also in UK for the big events/festivals.

Posted by DARK MAN X on May-29-2002 17:00:

IF THERE ARE NO BIG NAME DJS AVAILABLE FOR JUNE/JULY, THEN IF THERE IS AN OASIS THIS YEAR, THE LINE UP WOULD PROBABLY CONSIST OF LOCALS

I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE NEWEST TA WAS DAN514. INTERESTING

PEACE

Just my Opinion!!! Aria might have better dj's lately but It still doesn't have the same vibe as Sona..

I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of XL but when there's a big name dj nothing bets it !( Except for Tiesto last year..it was a little to much. )

Posted by Biggy on May-29-2002 17:45:

It just depend what kinda vibe you like man.
There is choice for every ones in town.

Your opinion

Dear Technofreak,

You are entitled to your opinion and if you do not like what we do, it's your right to say so. But why do personal attacks on local DJ's.

I'm not here to defend anyone, since they can hold their own, but what concerns me is the attitude and insults that serve no other purpose, but to make YOU feel better.

I am soooooo tired of these comparison between Aria and SONA, who cares !!! Go where you want and enjoy yourselves.

But why stir bad vibes in the scene. We have the best scene in the world and all you have to say is bad stuff, man get over it !

Enjoy the music and don't go to SONA, if it puts you in such a bad mood.

We are trying our best in a very rough environnement, we hope to do good events and bring DJ's people want to hear. that's it !

Instead of destroying, try to build.

Posted by ZinG on May-29-2002 19:02:

welcome aboard Dan
hope to see you post over here more often
So a question for you, where is Tiesto gonna be held in the AMC forum, i mean in theatre inside?main entrance? cause i have no clue.
Any capacity statistics and stuff plz do inform us
Thanks

Posted by dan514 on May-29-2002 20:07:

Here is some basic info, the rest you will have to see for yourselves.

Capacity is 4,000 people. We will be using the whole interior of the FORUM, the AMC theatre entrance will be REMOVED, along with everything else. The whole interior will become a large dance floor

In total will have 3 floors of open dance area with a very large VIP behind the DJ. The dance floor will be the same size as the Molson Centre and the ceilling hight is 60'.

As for decor and production we will be going all out...

ok... i gotta admit, i went overboard... that second post was uncalled for... but my first post comes from me... and i stand by it... i didnt mean what i said... i stated what i saw from a trance addicts point of view, un point c'est tout... its the same as choosing the old dilema between coke and pepsi... but because aria became much more popular because of these names, and sona is still relying on xl to push them forward... i didnt like what i saw... so i took a stand, and expressed my discontent.... like i said, i apologize for this but had to say what i said (not the second post)... i still have faith in sona recovering and becomming better than ever, but for now aria looks like the simple choice for me... and also like i said, i'm all the way straight up, i never leave anything inside, it has to come out... but like anyone else, i am entitled to my opinion...

Good talking man!!!

Posted by El-See on May-29-2002 23:12:

Cool, Dan is with us now to listen to what the public has to say. Now that is something good for your organisation!!!

It's true, 514 is doing it's best.....but in my point of vue, you are not really paying a lot of attention to what the public has to say about your events and your dj's.

My recommandations to you Dan are the following:

1) Can't you improve your sound system?? Why do we only hear the bass in your raves, and can barely hear the higher frequencies??

2) A part of Tiesto, why don't you never bring in trance dj's?? People are going crazy on Tiesto....isn't some proof that trance is admired by the crowd??

I hope you'll give us some good shows. Vive la competition, I like that!!!
