Paul van Dyk`s new track...

Hallo,

Today, on Paul`s website, what put a new little clip of a movie about an anti-drug campaing called MindZone. Paul made the music for it...

If you can notice, the song is pretty similar the track he spun on Rosenmontag`s Rave 2002.

Has Paul changed his style? heh... this is going to be known Very soon,

here is a sample for those of you who have not heard.

PvD - MindZONE

Many Greetings,

f0x

sounds like he used a lot of elements from For an Angel. my opinion, but i love all PVD, never lets a true fan down

Wow...awesome song from what I hear. It's got the ole PvD basis but with a new twist...this is gonna be big!

Posted by arturob on May-31-2002 02:22:

For an Angel?

hell no! This song is beautiful! I need more though... hehe. I hate teasers, specially short ones :P

u already know my opinion f0x , remember when i told u this morning about the best bassline in the world ?

Posted by arturob on May-31-2002 02:22:

LoL. you're hilarious hehehe...

But yes, Indeed. Paul`s bassline is the best :P

Posted by Rakoon on May-31-2002 02:35:

Hehe, this song is pretty strange. Good though. His style has changed to more "tech-ish" judging by this song and Take Me Higher. For better or for worse?

If he goes more progressive the electronic community will once again bow down to his mastery.

Posted by neo geo on May-31-2002 02:51:

i support paul and his anti drugging
i also cant wait to hear if his style has changed
it is different from one album to the next
listen to 45rpm then out there and back totally different
and who cares if his style changes its PAUL VAN DYK so it will be good

Paul won`t produce boring progressive like the other Artists.

Many Greetings,

What are you thinking fox???

This song is totally teasing us!!! Why you gotta post that clip...You are making me beg for the rest! Intro sounds real nice, but that change of the sound near the 26 second mark got a little awkward, but guess it would fit if the song kept on going. I was wondering why I like PVD so much and you guys are right...its his bassline that does it for me! I don't see a change of his style at all.

That's what I mean -- his breed of progressive yet energtic trance is completely unique and captivating.

Sounds to me like the bass line is just a repeating octave da-da da-da da-da da-da. Like playing an A and then jumping to another A one octive higher and repeating as 16th notes. Nothing new there (Erasure did this all the time in the late 80's). Also nothing new with his trite punchy bass drum (he has been using that same patch for at least 3 years now). I think Ferry Corsten's bass-lines can blow PVD's away. But I will not deny that it sounds good and would be a track I would spin. One thing that I've always liked about PVD's tracks is his excellent mastering quality. The sound quality is always way better then any other trance songs. He must have access to some very high quality compressors, cause his songs are always so damn punchy!

Sounds good (very good)... Being a fan of the PVD Out There & Yahel Private Collection sound and all.

Well Erasure had a good synth sound/bass etc. I think Ferry Corsten's work is nothing special, although he has a nice synth riff here and there.

Yeah man, 'Autumn' track roxx da place

Pretty nice PvD commercial track, he made that techno sample transfer semitones up very originally

Nice one... Very similar to For An Angel... For once I'm happy with paul... He's going back to the good stuff. Still, this track is pretty simple (Well I guess that's cause of the preview). Bassline sux though IMO.

Posted by DennisF on May-31-2002 09:39:

wow i cant get enough !! great sample!!! sounds like a new burner!

Posted by Tranz on May-31-2002 10:55:

From reading several interviews recently with Paul, you can tell he is getting bored with the whole electronica scene in general. I'm sure his next album will have alot of expiremental tracks on it. Some of his latest works/remixes are definitely different.
