Trance classic of the day
In this thread, I will try to bring to light some of the 'lesser' known or 'forgotten' classic trance tunes, with some words by me describing why it's a brilliant tune.
Today's tune: Apoptygma Berzerk - Kathy's Song (Ferry Corsten remix) [2000]
Even his most critical detractors will not deny that Ferry Corsten produced a lot of classics from 1998 to 2001. Among these gems, Corsten remixed Kathy's Song, from an electronica group named Apoptygma Berzerk.
He took a very dark and moody tune with haunting lyrics and groovy synths and turned it into a classic Ferry Corsten trance. Skillfully building up the tune from the start and boom! Here comes the epic breakdown. Just listening to this tune makes my heart be filled with euphoric mood.
Very fine work by Ferry Corsten

Aquanuts - Deep Sea [2001]
(the last min or so of the clip is not Deep Sea)
Now this tune has a soft spot in my heart for a number of reasons. 1. It's one of my fav trance tunes. 2. The intro to this tune (which I cannot find a clip of it on youtube unfortunately) is one of the most effective in terms of hyping up for a trance set IMO. 3. The vocal clips are simple but works well in terms of their placement, instead being forced on a tune. 4. I had to chase down for a long time before I found the vinyl for it.
I find it to be a very dreamy tune that touches my soul. Excellent tune to start a high bpm trance set.
Some people prefer Martin Eyerer remix but not me. Heh. Kinda funny, because Eyerer does minimal now.

Even Armin thought it's a kick ass tune. (When he had good taste in trance back in the day)
Starts off with Deep Sea, then mixes into Armin van Buuren - Sunburn (tune!)
Nice!
Also the lesser known stuff is a good idea too but imo should not be solely restricted to that.
How often is this going on? Weekly, Daily?

York - Reachers of Civilization [2001]
I hope this counts...i'm still a noob
Today's tune: Darren Tate vs Jono Grant (20032)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wskqmLwXLFA <---click for video
Still too early to be considered a 'classic', well I suppose it's borderline but eh.
Now I hate Jono Grant. Okay, I lied.I just don't like Jono Grant when he does cheesy vocal trance but I respect him as a producer in general.
This brilliant collaboration with another fantasic producer Darren Tate to me is all about epicness, but not in hands in the air type. Well, I say this because this tune is way darker than typical Jono Grant production, so more of Darren Tate tune during this era of Tate's career. Tune is not complex in structure. Powerful synths, easy to absorb breakdown and simple vocals of 'Let the Light Shine In' overwhelms your senses.
Hell, I know nothing. If this tune doesn't get your hands up in the air, I gotta wonder what trance tune will. (Don't say vocal trance!)
I know my hands were up when Above and Beyond dropped this when they were in Toronto few yrs ago. (the rest of their set was garbage)
See? Even Tiesto likes this tune
so far there is not even one "forgotten trance classic" in this thread just cheesy big hits
Some of classix that got me into trance in 99:
Overtone (Push) - Mental Movement
Plastic Angel - Follow Me
ahh vinyl...so beautiful.
Afterburn - Fratty Boy
i know this was one tiesto's magik 6 album but ive never seen or heard it anywhere else
also:
Dickster - Dizzy Drops
cant find this video on youtube
EDIT: Tastexperience - Tantrix
Haak - Pulling Strings
Kamaya Painters - Soft Light
The one track that is responsible for my getting involved (no pun intended) with electronic music, and stands out as being the backdrop to one of the most absolutely surreal club moments that I've experienced thus far.
