High School reunions... did you go? Would you go?

I'm heading out to Montral this weekend for my HS reunion. My HS was small, about 650 students... not that great on spirit, still had some though...but no class of any year I could search reunion existed until now. Because it's small, it's a reunion for several years together within a 5 year span. This would not have happened without FaceBook connecting everyone together.

So I'm anxious about meeting my former girlfriends. It's going to be awkward, but via FB, we're just looking forward to see each other, so that's cool. I'm alsolooking forward to hearing a night of all the old school beats!

So for you in your late 20s and 30s.... Did you go? How was it? For those not near their 10th year yet, would you go or not and why?

My 5 year is next year and there is a picnic in a park that has been organized and alcohol isn't allowed.

I kindly passed.....

I went to my reunion this summer and it was similar to what yours sounds like. We were a small school as well so it was 5yrs together.

I wasn't sure at first if I would even go when I found out about it, but in the end I had a really great time and I was glad I went.

It was nice to see some people that I hadn't seen in a lifetime, and there were those that remind you why you haven't bothered to stay in touch, lol.

pfft, I ignore 98% of the facebook friend invites from people I knew in high school, why would I want to go out of my way to travel and see them?

Actually, there are a few teachers I wouldn't mind seeing again.

i will be going to my next reunion.

i had a great time in high school and i would love to see the peeps.

i didn't go to an earlier one because it was still too soon to have to (i was still in uni) i will definitely be going to the next one.

tru nuf... There is a dinner, which I didn't make (max 100 ppl, response was overwhelming in the end), but I am going to the 'reception' after the dinner which went for $36 for 3 hours of open bar!

It's the latter that bugs me the most... Out of my 'clique', I was the first to have a girlfriend, and I was constantly being teased for having a girlfriend. She was in a younger grade, so I had to put up with the all the robbing the cradle jokes and all that "Jose and AJ sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" crap. I so getcha.

OH... and ya, she's going to be there.

Wouldn't go. Won't go.

Afterall, there's a reason I'm not in touch with those fools anymore. Hell, that's a large part of the reason I don't FB. lol.

Same! I have great memories of High School and adored my graduating class.

We will have green blood for life

I was a total nerd at school and I only hung out with few fellow geeks lol

Should be interesting seeing all the peeps from high school though. I`d go

I would definitely go. The only problem would be picking which graduating class to be a part of, lol.

same here, but had an excellent time 2 years ago for the 10th, people grew up, the nerd/not-nerd doesn't exist anymore.

Wish it would happen more often, lots of good stories, great connections to be made. It's always fun to see how people have evolved

Ya, I was with the geeks alot myself cuz I was on the high school paper club, and those were the "AJ's got a giiiiirlfriend" naggers. Fortunately I was also very athletic, so I didn't get any crap from the jocks.

I would think that those events would reduce a lot of people to exaggerating their careers/life experiences in the hopes of impressing people that they don't talk to anymore....Like saying I'm a Secret Agent Astronaut Millionaire Cowboy.

(All of this is pure speculation - I've never done a HS reunion)

I'd like to see some people again, especially some of my old teachers.

I think I would go

Posted by Yohan on Oct-22-2008 17:12:

lol. i just realized AJ kinda looks like Umair in that pic

Posted by nadezhda on Oct-22-2008 17:12:

i probably couldn't be arsed to go...i already would have had my 10 year this year ( ), but my school was lame and doesn't do reunions.

i keep in touch with the people i actually want to keep in touch with. i'd go to see my old teachers though! i miss some of them. it would be amusing to go back and see how many people are on to their fifth kid and still working in the mall or some shit though...

Awesome thread! I went to my 10-yr last year and it was pretty cool, golf, lunch, dinner, drinks. I went to an all-boys school so it was slightly more gay, but there were no shortage of targets and wingmen when we went out after LOL

lol u got off easy!!! I used to get the F-U-C-K-I-N-G. Lol, but my first gf was when I was 15, so I think I was late in the game and kids were already pretty dirty.

Brutha from another mutha

/putting our heads together and making an ass out of ourselves

My graduating class was small (50 people- it was a private school, but most of us were together our whole lives kindergarden-12th grade) and not once since '89 has there been 1 single reunion!! I've started a FB page for our class, little by little people are joining, but no one's really talking on the page, which pretty much reinforces why we haven't had a reunion. Maybe we'll actually organize one for the 20 yr next yr.

Posted by hazelnut on Oct-23-2008 08:33:

i would definitely go! i still keep in touch with quite a number of ppl from hs and it's always interesting to know what ppl have been up to.

lol, I knew everyone in school, used to be in the scouts so knew a few lads from the other junior schools once I got to the high school & obviously they soon introduce you to everyone else. My school year had about 220 people in and I'd say I knew about 200 of them by name and the other 20 as 'people in my year' Overall out of the 1400 students aged 11-18 at any given moment I probably knew half of them

Reunion wise, it's 10 years since we left, plans have been tentatively made for some get together at xmas, mostly because a lot of people are now all over the country and it's easier when people are back to see their families etc.
