Songs that You Cant Mix

Ok guys, well, since Ive been Learning to Beatmach all this time, and im still Learning, i have learned a lot, and i almost always get matched the songs os are least very near to the real speed of a Song, but I have some tunes that are difficult to me to Mix, if u have Idea of how to mix thems please let me know, or u can post the song that u cant mix too.

there goes Mine:

Chicane - Saltwater (Original) -Too Slow and Too Melodic at Begin
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar - Very Slow for My Sets
3 Drives - Greece 2000 -Very Slow for My sets also
DJ Tiesto - Magik Journey -i just use for intro
DJ Tiesto - In My Memory (Original) - Too Melodic

OK, the DJ Tiesto - Magik Journey is one of my favorites tracks, but i fell bad when i cant mix, cuz even skipping the SOFT at begin part i cant mix it, I cant mix a track after this Neither.

When the tracks are slow like Cafe del Mar, i just have to slow down all my set??

Post your comments, Tips, etc,.

Thanks.

i don't think i'd have a problem mixing those tracks u just mentioned... the hardest track i've come across so far is push - strange world... mixing it is really fucked, mixing out of it is ok... but the beginning of the track is just too complex for me... if i don't drop the beat of it right on the beat of the going track, thats it, the mix is ruined, cuz theres a 32 w/out beat with a melody.... ugh, listen to it and u'll know what i mean

I also have a problem with mixing magik journey

Yeah i JUST started beatmatching..i got my 1200's about 3 weeks ago. I know what you mean about the Push - Strange world. out of my collection of 25 records or so, I found it to fit ok between Cygnus X- Superstrings and Midway - Monkey forrest. I really didnt do alot of experimentation here...just was messing around and I was able to match the beats. Is there anyway I can learn finer beatmatching, phrase matching, and eq's? I KNOW i just have to count and practice TONS. But Can someone just tell me the basic process so I know what to follow? Thanks

Push - strange world.... That tune is amazing for mixing with.

Some hard ones i think :

Dream Waver - Liquid MM
M.I.K.E - Sunrise In Palamos

Actually those tune arent hard to mix but the both sound over-wealming and dont really blend with any other tunes, he he

Don't count beats. It is just too hard to keep a count while you mix. Learn to listen and feel the phrases. After listening to record about 5 times you should be able to know when the phrase hits without counting.

i have no problem mixing mike - sunrise at all... but strange world, i just can't get... *sigh*

Nice thread!

Even if you are the best "phrase mixer" in the world, there are still tracks that just don't go well together, because the melody kicks in right at the start, or almost at the start of the tracks (no, I am not talking about radio edits). Some M.I.K.E. tracks, like "Someone, Somewhere"), are downright impossible to mix seamless into, if the other track also has a strong melody that doesn't match the M.I.K.E. sound.

Posted by burns on Jun-03-2002 21:28:

Yeah, Most M.I.K.E tracks have the melodys introduced at a very early stage of the song. Moon project is a perfect example

I have no problems at all!
i can mix michael jackson into the beatles easy!

haha just kidding. Dj Mind-x - Voyage (dogma remix) grrr, stupid 1-bar fill-ins. They have too many, and I'm too lazy to work it out. Actually, any songs with those 1-bar fills, but they're usually easy to work around if you know your songs well enough.

Cool

VdM - Fly Away (Original 12" Mix) <<<===--- 40 beat bars

yeah i was JUST about to mention that and read your post

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ALTITUDE - EXCESSION?!?!?

ugh
that's the only track ive ever had trouble mixing in because of the bpm change...fucking christ!

i sometimes have trouble mixing in spoiled & zigo - more & more (instrumental mix), no clue why though

i just can't seem to get it beatmatched, i think there might be a bpm change in it (the version i have is a private distributor who most likely illegally pressed the track)

Major League - Wonder (not sure which mix.. prob. original)

This song's intro is insane... it has this crazy bassline and then all of a sudden the huge bass just hits... it seems completely out of place/unexpected...

Tony Walker - Field of Joy
It's so boombacious.. I just have trouble for some reason...

DJ Icey is my fav to throw in at the middle of my set!! Love the breakbeat feel to it. I always mix in Corstens Dance Valley theme. Just skip the beginning of ferries stuff and go into the breakbeat at the cut! woot

Dont worry, you should be able to get that mixed eventually, listen to mix on the bass beat or a high or a first beat.

I used to have the same problem, but now i fell well the beats of this songs, skip some pharses untill u listen the hi-hats, there u could mix more easilly, i guess.

Posted by zapper on Jun-04-2002 16:10:

Flight 643?

In my opinion this track rocks for mixing, it matches perfectly with a lot of songs. I usually do very long transitions into and out of it. Once you manage to beatmatch it right it will be worth your effort.

Posted by uberclkgtr on Jun-04-2002 17:19:

tracks that have low-sounding synths that don't match up with the beat, as in 10 synth stabs per 8 beats or so. those are hard.

nat monday - waiting (creamer & k mix)
kosheen - hide you (creamer & k mix)

are like this. very difficult.

also tracks that have a double beat every 4 or 8 beats, such as junior jack's "thrill me". those take some special care too.
