Purepillz makes the National Post

Health Canada is taking steps to all but ban a new, halucinogenic party drug that it says is becoming increasingly popular, has potentially dangerous side effects and is essentially unregulated now.

The department is proposing to declare BZP and other members of the piperazine class controlled substances, making possession and trafficking in the drugs a crime except for purposes authorized by the government. The move, announced in a notice published Saturday, would effectively end the pills' current street status as the "legal ecstasy."

FULL STORY

So another example of the government being pissed off because they can't make money off something so they want to ban it.

in a way i am glad that the government is looking in to that drug.
purepillz markets their product as a safer alternative to other illicit drugs when they dont have any scientific proof that it really is safer. they are just claiming it is safer because the government hasnt gotten around to it.

Posted by Mach X on Nov-26-2008 05:17:

Exactly... Just because it hasn't been deemed illegal, people think it's safe or ok. Not saying the illegal ones are much healthier, but at least they are not being passed off as some healthier or safer alternative...

Posted by Dj Gracjan on Nov-26-2008 05:21:

i do agree with you guys on that, but the only thing that I agree with the pills is that everyone of them is made the same. Which is why I rather people do something that I know they will survive rather than taking a risk everytime

Posted by Zentac_75 on Nov-26-2008 05:26:

^ME TOO!!!

the idea of purchasing a halucinogenic party drug that is unregulated absolutley makes my blood boil!!!

Just kidding I don't judge (yet)

Regardless, my point is either all drugs are legal or no drugs are legal. I usually don't chime in on this issue because Im not a psychologist or psychiatrist but new evidence has been presented to me and prescription meds are apparantely comparable to these purepillz in certain circumstances.

Correct me if Im wrong BUT....

/end smartass comment

*real edit*

anyone who takes anything consciously....(it sounds much funnier if pablo fransico describes the transatcion) should know the risks involved.

just because a product is consistent doesnt mean it is safer.
it could be more consistent with ingredients that have the potential of being more dangerous.

Here we go again!

Please ban it....Didn't we learn anything from Ephedrine folks?

True enough. This is just one of those things I guess that can be argued till forever since there hasn't been enough research done, but I'm sure the over the counter pills they sell aren't too good for us either. Regardless I could care less really since I stopped doing chemicals years ago with the occasional and rare use from time to time when I'm drunk and somehow someone manages to trick/peer pressure my drunken mind

what irks me the most about these pills is that people dont consider them a drug just because they are legal.

I know a few who quite doing drugs and started doing these pills... I really dont see a difference.

Regardless I think they should be classified under the same category as esctasy... they should be illegal.

Should MDMA even be illegal? It has proven medical benefits...just like pot.

I am sure further studies will be made on these pills and the drugs contained in them and eventually they will be illegal.

LOL...

Wouldn't be the first time...

Posted by love_child on Nov-26-2008 17:48:

Its not an equal substitute to MDMA...its piperazines. It can be fun, euphoric and enjoyable, but its not MDMA.... its far speedier and with no real empathogenic qualities.

You'll see lots of pretty tracers and some neat CEV's and shit though, if your into that.

Some people also find them very dysphoric, and some cant tolerate the side effects, which are mainly neasua, gastric upset and headache. Expect a bit of a hang over and a generally shitty feeling as wears off and the day after.

Its not terrble, but its not as magic as MDMA.

IMO...its like a cross of amphetamine or methylphenidate with a weak/low dose of a typical serotogenic hallucingin (LSD for TFMPP and shroomy for PFPP...is the best I can roughly aproximate...as of course each drug is somewhat unique)

You can't discount cumulative effects of taking quite a few of them though. Just because you know what's in one and one won't hurt you doesn't mean 100 of them won't.

I'm definitely not saying they won't hurt your body. Obviously everything in today's society seems to be bad for us, but if we talk about moderation MAYBE this is better? maybe not? who knows!

Posted by LittlePoonzgirl on Nov-26-2008 19:58:

Ok, I have a real big issue with these pills.

Not only are they not safe, but they are imo less safe than one/some of the illegal substances they are meant to imitate.

Piperazines are known to cause some serious side effects. I've done my fair share of research (erowid, multiple forums, user reports) and found that these types of "legal" pills have sent a number of people TO THE HOSPITAL for kidney complications. These users did not "OD" but rather had a bad reaction to the piperazines and risked kidney failure.

Aside from this, most users have reported at least a moderate hangover with some reporting enough discomfort during or after to prevent them from wanting to partake again.

Personally, I wouldn't risk trying these after what I read...and this is coming from someone who isn't against illegal substances. If you are worried about "what's in your pill" then go buy a testing kit. These should never have been marketed as a "safe" alternative just because they were legal. After all, think of all the legal chemicals you could buy at the store that would harm you if you consumed them.

Too bad some people don't do their research. I guess the gov is trying to be their mommy.
