Arrow TA Remix contest with "405 recordings" alongside launches!

Hi everyone!

First of, i would like to give a big thanks out there for stef for coming up with this idea and all of you guys who help and will participate!

so without further a due i would like to state all of the necessary info:

Track to be remixed:

"Xetro - Abrupt Interrupt"

Located fifth on the player on the right: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Xetro/32527742840

Rules:

1. You would be handed a remix pack by me to you, please keep the remix pack for yourself, and feel free to ask for anything not in it that you find you like in the original track and would like to incorporate with your remix.

2. Me and James ("405" Manager) would select a top five of all the remixes, probably a week after the competition due date arrives we will publish those tracks for a poll, probably will be a pack or streaming audio through a site.

3. Please try to keep it EDM, i personally would really like to hear all sorts of stuff you make, but the winning remix will be on the release, and "405" is on the trance/house/progressive kind of things, so keep that in mind.

4. All the remixes will be of "405 Recordings" property, as my original mix is, thats the way it usually goes.

5. This is going to be an anonymous voting, the tracks will be call "Remix1", "Remix2", etc... so don't post it or a "work in progress" kind of post, it will ruin the competition! Thanks

How do i get in?

Please send an e-mail stating your participation, full name and address to:

*Competition entry time is over*

this is done mainly for personal reliability to see if you are truly serious about it, I'm not a label or a company and the only use i do with this e-mail is to talk to people if you have a particular problem with the terms above you can send me an e-mail and we'll clarify it out together.

messages can also be sent through PMs its just that i usually looking in my e-mails than checking PMs.

Prize

Personal fulfillment!... nah i was joking there

the winning remix/es (yes there could be more than one!) would be released alongside the original track and will receive their proper split of the sales, that means proper agreement of a remixer, other than that James will be checking your works and if he sees you fit he would maybe enter a contract with you.

Dates

You have a month to complete the remix, the competition will end on the 8th of January, so try to deliver at the 7th
At the next two weeks people will be allowed to enter the competition, that means that whoever is applying a request after the 22nd of December will be denied.

The remix pack includes everything but drums/whooshes/crashes... also a lo-fi (96kbps mp3) version of the original track and a text files stating the chords sequence and scale will be delivered too.

Please deliver the remixes to my e-mail ([email protected]), if you can do it by direct download it would be great

I hope this sums it up,

Also feel free to give a big shout out to "405 Recordings", check out releases and such at:

405 Myspace page

And:

405 Facebook page

Have a very pleasant remixing! and by all means, keep it fun!

Cheers,

Sagy.

I'm interested in Remixing the track, but not entering the contest (i'm sure others are as well).

Is it cool that I get a remix pack too?

The original makes me :

Don't give me any 'just not your style' BS. Underworld and other electro/psy/industrial acts like this are some of my old-school favorites. This track just sucks. The vocals hardly sync with the beat and don't go anywhere.

Thanks, but no thanks.

then dont enter simple and the hole point off this comp was from my original post (give the producer a shout)
as thier wasn't much going on in the way off healty competitions/reconishon.

hence stef posting up his idea of ta producer battle.

Yeah if you don't want to remix it that's fine don't.

there not forcing you to do it....

Just wondering why everyone is poppin' a chubby over such a crap track... bottom line is that you can't make gold from shit. I'd rather not waste a month working on something like this; I'm just trying to help others see my point.

If the track was good, I'd be all for it. But remixing something that was done poorly just isn't fun.

i know ALOT of shit tracks which has some great elements in it just begging for a remixer discovering its potensials which the original producers could not (example above and beyond - no one on earth and its gabriel and dresden remix - original SUCK, remix one of the best vinyls i ever had).

I have not listened to this track so im not supporting anyone here. I understand it has vocals, much can be done with vocals only. And another point, what the hell is the point remixing a great track? Why destroy it? Example: Arnej - They Always Come Back... why remix that?

All good points. For the record, in my opinion, the vocals on this track suck.

Posted by airwalker1 on Dec-08-2008 20:51:

so dont enter the remix comp like i said before.
and trying to convince every one this is a crap track,in my personal view only make you a dick.

We're dicks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don't like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes: assholes that just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves... because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us fuck this asshole, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!

I'm sorry mate, the remix pack was done exclusively for this contest and i would like to keep it that way, why wont you give your shot at the contest if you already want to make a remix?

Personally I don't think I could compete with some of the people entering the competition, as though my level of producing isn't as good as some of theirs. Also, I'm not sure what I'd do with it just yet, so time is sort of an issue. I'm also working out of FL Studio demo, so that's a big hurdle for me.

Although I would do a remix, if you really wanted me to I'm just not sure if anyone would benefit if they listened to it lol.

dont put your self in the i cant do it box dude. ive already stared making elements to for this track and im not even thinking about anyone or anything, other then enjoying the ride.

you will be surprised how much you will learn. because you try harder.

bit of a pain only having fl in demo but reaper is free still and you will find a boat load of free vst's. plus any thing you make in fl just render to wav and emport to reaper.

+1
nearly all of my favourite tunes are remixes... somehow when another producer looks at a tune they can often get better stuff out of it..

+ if you can't find a way to get something good out of this you mustn't have much creativity happening...

i'm a n00b man, but remixes are Awesome for learning: you don't have to worry as much about the melody which means you have more time to spend on structure, rhythm, and eventually FX and mastering

this is pretty much an awesome opportunity to get your skills up, enter and get some feedback on how you're going
