**************************************************************************

This mix was inspired by Tomic's amazing new album; it reminded me a lot of the deeeeep progressive house that was popular a while back. The motivation to do it was bought about by having mates who think "psy-trance" is a dirty word, hence the inclusion of the last three tracks. I wanted to show them that it's only a small step up from progressive house in some cases. The mix is intended to replicate the feeling of an all-nighter, starting with very sedate, sunset-style music, becoming darker with sundown, and then brightening again for the sunrise. Cliche, I know, but if the shoe fits...

I was tempted to continue this mix for another few hours, peaking with full-blown psy-trance and then coming back down to sedate BPMs, but decided that for download purposes a smaller file would be easier. This file is 200MB. The source tracks used to mix were all 320kbps, which was recorded to wave format and then rendered down to 320kbps, so the quality is realistically less than indicated. Still sounds quite good though. Only problem is that the mix won't fit on a CD as it goes for 87 minutes. Opening BPM is 123 and closing BPM is 138. Enjoy.

Thank you very much for listening. It takes ages to record, render and upload a mix, but if just one person enjoys it, that's good enough for me.

Uppity!

I listened to this today for the first time and I'm very proud of it. The mixing is pretty clean and the set flows really nicely overall.

Going to have to check this one out. Good to see people mix more than one genre at a time.

Bumpski.

More people need to DL this mix, it's damn nice.

Track that comes in at 67 mins? Loving it.

this mix is incredible mate.

the mixing was very very smooth and the track selection is impressive.

the following tunes were the highlight of the set for me:
Bart van Wissen - One Reason
Vibrasphere - Autumn Lights
Zen Mechanics - Environmental Porn
Solar Fields - Black Arrow

im rating this set a perfect 5/5 on my ipod and will definitely be replaying this set in the future.

keep up the great work mate!

The title is misleading, isn't it? I never thought of that. The set runs for just under 90 minutes.

Thanks for the kind comments all.

i'll check it out.

Any mirror? Zshare stops my download at 10% and I've tried about 10 times by now!

Rapidshare or Megaupload would be great, if possible.

It takes me about two or three hours to upload and I'm about to go away for the weekend, but I'll do it for you on Monday.

Thanks.

Well, this definitely looks worth waiting for, so thanks.

New link: [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

I didn't realise; rapidshare only offers a measly ten downloads, and then the file expires after that.

Therefore, anyone else who wants this, please try the zshare link first, and if that doesn't work use rapidshare.

So I just got around to listen to the whole thing and I have to say that it was really good. I'd only heard about half of those tracks before listening to this and it was good to hear that you kept the same style and sound all the way, it gave the mix a good flow I think. And I have to say , that last track was amazing, good choice.

an interesting choice of build. the energy was there for me, but personally i've felt like this type of speed increase deserves a bit more timeline, maybe stretched over a good 2 hours. it just felt too rapid.

i loved the progressive house you've selected, it wasn't too "over the top" (as I have no other way describing it) but still had a great energy level and bounce.

really wasn't into the faster stuff at the end. at this point in the mix it felt a bit out of place and I wished you would've simply continued with what you opened up the atmosphere with. though i must add that the blend/programming was really well done.

didn't notice any blatant mixing issues. so i must say it was well done and thank you for sharing. i take away a couple of tracks i need to pick up for myself should i ever get back onto the "club" circuit. (been stuck playing small lounges, which fits for what i like to fuck with - deep/tech house).

Thanks!

I tend to to agree with you. Between One Reason and Subterra, I wussed out and mixed during a breakdown because I knew it was a tough one, which I think broke up the flow of the mix a bit, and then jumped up quite a bit in intensity with the track after that. It probably would have been better to have three or four more tracks in there before getting to the faster stuff.

Regarding you "taking away" tracks in case you ever DJ a club again, don't you grab tracks purely because you like them and want to listen to them in your own time, as opposed to having them specifically for DJing?

i don't need to grab the tracks to listen to personally, since i already have your mix to do that for me.
