Smoked Meat

I just finished carving up a prime slab of fatty smoked meat from Schwartz's

im actually going to buy a charcoal smoker in the spring to make my own.
smoked ribs, smoked brisket, etc.

I remember getting a couple of smoked meat sandwiches from Schwartz and my god it was one of the most beautiful sandwiches I have ever indulged in. I wish Toronto had a place remotely close to this.

there's a little place on college st that is supposed to be pretty good. can't remember the name right now.. but I've heard really good things about it. need to check it out sometime soon. doubt it will be as good as Schwartz's though

Dunns is a shitty franchised place. The Toronto one sucks hard. It might as well have been shopsy's smoked meat your your local No Frills deli counter.

Corned Beef House also sucks. Though i had a pastrami sandwich there once that was really good.

There used to be a place on King St just east of Peter St called Rubens that was pretty good. closest I'd ever had to Shwartz's in Toronto. Sadly they got a reputation for horrible service and closed down a few years ago. I once saw the server yell at some woman calling her a stupid bitch and to get the fuck out. She asked if she could get bacon on a sandwich, and they were a kosher deli. then he stormed off behind the counter, pulled out a needle and gave himself a shot of what i assume was insulin

i would but rickshaws are no fun on the highway.

It's not a moped, it's a scooter.. and no it's too cold.

In spring I'll take you for a ride, but you have to give me a reach around.

In my experience, the good deli is in the more Northern part of the city around the 401. Namely Pancer's (Bathurst) & Katz deli (Dufferin).

that is a wonderful idea.

my dad has one up in timmins and everything that comes out of there is AMAZING! make sure to experiment with different wood types for different flavors.

You can't really compare Caplansky's with Schwartz's because the texture, taste, everything is of a different breed. Still good in its own right, but I prefer Schwartz's. Caplansky's smoked meat poutine is amazing though

Fantastic place on Adelaide around just east of Spadina: CBH - Corned beef house. Service is meh, and you have to wait for your sammich.. but damn good.

Its right on Eglington (obviously haha) and its just west of Eglington and Tomken I believe...I don't know the exact address since we drive there by habit. I actually don't go as often anymore, but their smoked meat isn't like the crap they sell in grocery stores, its Montreal-style smoked meat *yum*

Just east of Tomken on Eglington, on the north side. I live right by it lol
