bank on something bad happening. the promoters should offer all of last years attendees a ticket at a reduced admission. THats what happened to people in SF who attended a halloween that was shut down early.

The incident at etd.POP last year was completely out of Skill's control. PG&E had an entire grid fail on them which effected the Cow Palace. Full neighborhoods were also without power.

You can't hold Skills at fault for that. Not like the DJs, venue, etc gave them any type of discount.

only if you attended! :-)
glad i didnt waste my time at pop.
besides to this day i dont know if tiesto showed up out of the goodness of his heart due to his set at pop being cut short

or

if it was pre-planned.

i know the ruby monitors can be manipulated easily, so not sure if they were all set for tiesto ahead of time.

Needs those promised multi colored lasers! haha.

Hope we get some trance that 1015 has been booking lately - stuff that doesnt get around often if at all. Skills has the name. Sure its a large venue but the name more then helps bring in over half of the crowd. One known headliner and 2-3 not top 20 and that would be banging for all genres.

So there's not going to be any DNB stage this year?

That sucks, I love my trance, but It's nice to drop into DNB. POP has had some great dj's like last year Dylan was amazing, Dieselboy the year before, etc.

But, I guess the DNB scene is not doing well in San Fran from what I can tell?

Also, my ride up there is really into DNB...Might have to find a new way up.

lucky for me i did!!!, it did seem that they had the visuals already prepared, but it was pretty simplistic, so im sure there wasnt much to adding them

The power outage is just a cover-up for the drug bust.

http://www.kcbs.com/pages/2260172.php?

Just google it, there are plenty of links.

PoP and the COW PALACE have been working with drug stings for years.

Fuck that place, I'm never going there again. Walking along the outside of the arena near bathrooms, I had 1 person ask me if I had "ecstacy," 1 person ask my gf if she had "ketamine," and two people ask us if we had any "LSD." Who the FUCK asks for "Ketamine" or "LSD" other than a narc, shit.

You stick 10,000 people who are bound to do drugs, what do you expect? And K is bigger than you think... not that I've taken it nor LSD but I'm sure some pople like the effects esp with the lighting/visuals that go on at massives.

Oh well, was expecting a "So I'm planning on proposing to my GF at POP..." thread from you too

This article is midworded and gives the wrong implication.

What happened with the cops is they had undercover officers inside all night trying to find dealers...they go around asking to buy some.

They didn't shut it down AND then do undercovering buying while people were walking out. That'd be stupid.

Now, there were dogs and stuff outside sniffing while people were walking out.....buuuuuuutt

Daly City police having undercover people inside and dogs outside is nothing new at events there. It happens at every one and I believe it's publically known to be a part of the deal for them to be able to use the Cow Palace.

All said, this article actually has nothing to do with the power outage itself, but the undercover work that occured before the power outtage occured. And that undercover work always happens.

Some people who obviously like to rush to judgement without care for the full facts keep tying the power-outage and undercover officers & dogs....but even without the power-outage, the Daly City police would have been doing the same things.

the interagency drug sting is the best part of the event imo. all those lost souls finally given a wake up call...

Heh my friend from DC decided to come in earlier that day and within fifteen minutes he had found himself a plethora of pills. I guess it (narcs) was of little concern to many people that night.

Posted by xCxStylex on Jan-08-2009 23:21:

What I meant by my post is that there were a lot of people that were probably narcs because of the weird way they asked for stuff. Walking along the outside, people were asking and acting awkwardly, even ones that were all candied out. I get asked for pills alllll the time, weed occasionally, or at least if I have a joint, acid rarely, but I've never had anyone use the exact words "ketamine" or "L S D."

No one ever says the exact words "do you have any ketamine" or "L S D."

Oh and John Beaver, I enjoyed your opening set last year. I also enjoyed Dyloot/Deep Voices, even though I'm tired of him/them.

Okay so explain to me what makes you think that skills is involved in this?? You Think that the skills crews spends a bunch of money and many working hours to put these events just so that they can create a narc trap???

GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!

Skills knows undercover work is going on...

As it goes on at EVERY (music) event there heavily, this is not something that's unknown or hidden. In fact, it's always made clear that the event is going on with the full support of the city of Daly City....that's because they can do the undercover work of course!

Anyhow, undercover work also goes on at any major event in SF, LA, wherever. It's common. Don't see why it's suhc a big deal to you.
