Gaza medics describe horror of strike which killed 70

| Growing evidence emerged today of the bloodiest single incident of the Gaza conflict when around 70 corpses were found by a Palestinian paramedic near a bombed-out house. By Tim Butcher in Jerusalem Last Updated: 9:25AM GMT 08 Jan 2009 Mohammed Shaheen, a volunteer with Palestinian Red Crescent, was in the first convoy of ambulances to reach the site of the blast in Zeitoun since it was first occupied then shelled by the Israeli army. His testimony confirmed accounts, first reported in The Telegraph, from survivors of the extended al Samouni clan who said they feared between 60 and 70 family members had been killed. "Inside the Samouni house I saw about ten bodies and outside another sixty,'' Mr Shaheen said. "I was not able to count them accurately because there was not much time and we were looking for wounded people. "We found fifteen people still alive but injured so we took them in the ambulances. "I could see an Israeli army bulldozer knocking down houses nearby but we ran out of time and the Israeli soldiers started shooting at us. "We had to leave about eight injured people behind because we could not get to them and it was no longer safe for us to stay.'' Mr Shaheen was in a convoy led by a jeep from the International Committee of the Red Cross that made its way down war-damaged tracks past demolished houses to the town of Zeitoun. Concerns had been growing that Zeitoun had witnessed massive civilian casualties after surviving members of the Samouni clan reached Gaza City three days ago. They said that after the Israeli army first took the town on Saturday night soldiers had ordered about 100 members of the clan to gather in a single house owned by Wael Samouni around dawn on Sunday. At 6.35am on Monday the house was repeatedly shelled with appalling loss of civilian life. A handful of survivors, some wounded, others carrying dead or dying infants, made it on foot to Gaza's main north-south road before they were given lifts to hospital. Three small children were buried in Gaza City that afternoon. According to the survivors between 60 and 70 family members had been killed by shrapnel and falling masonry. Convoys of ambulances twice headed to the area to look for wounded but they were driven back by Israeli shooting. During today's three hour lull in offensive operations by Israel, the ICRC led the rescue convoy in although it took a long time for the convoy to make its way down war-damaged. According to Mr Shaheen, the death toll was as high as described by the survivors. |
its 2006 all over again. i dont care what hamas (and now reportedly hezbollah too) are up to, it doesn't justify this amount of force.
invoking rule 34?
I have been looking at the news at CNN all these days, and i still do not understand why they are fighting...
One war ends another begins, wtf is wrong with these people.

| he Moral Responsibilities of Israeli Soldiers 08 Jan 2009 11:59 am Dear Soldier, Here's the thing. You've got to help the children. You're not Hamas. You're better than Hamas. So act it. I once asked Abdel-Aziz Rantisi, the late, unlamented Hamas leader, if he would help an injured Jewish child if he came across one lying on the street. He said no. And he was a pediatrician by training! You're not Rantisi. So when you operate, operate with the children in mind. It's a burden Hamas has placed on you -- it's no joy to fight an enemy who hides behind his children. But that's what you're facing. And when you come across scenes like the one described in this Washington Post story, help the children. Yes, I'm sure the Red Cross makes things up from time to time -- they don't like you and never have -- and I'm sure some of the Palestinian self-reporting isn't accurate, but, really -- horrible things still happen, and it's your responsiblity to protect innocent people, not make their lives even more miserable. I would refer you to this Jewish prayer for the children of Gaza. Understand its message! |
It's world war II all over again, occupation, occupation, occupation...
btw never listen to american news reporters, they are sympathising only the Israel side...to choose a side never gonna solve a conflict.
listen to norwegian doctor mads gilbert, one of two doctors from outside palestina, he is the only one who has responded to what's happening down there.
They were probably killed with American made weapons.

That's so sad because now they refuse to send in supplies unless Israeli forces tone it down. I used to be a full on backer for Israel but who can back them up when they are acting this way? Israel will soon lose their allies if they don't stop. Ridiculous. |

| Hamas has set up an independent hospital in the Gaza Strip to treat its operatives wounded in fighting with the IDF - and, according to Israeli estimates, it is pilfering a significant portion of the medicine allowed into the Strip, senior defense officials told The Jerusalem Post on Monday. |
| quote: |
| Despite this estimate, the Defense Ministry said Monday that it would continue facilitating the transfer of food and medical supplies into Gaza. The humanitarian convoys, defense officials said, played a key role in garnering international legitimacy for the IDF's operations in Gaza since it showed the world that Israel distinguished between Hamas terrorists and Palestinian civilians. |
the war is a win win situation for me.

Even CNN fell victim to Hamas propoganda video yesterday when they actually aired a fake video showing the supposed suffering of a 12 year old boy desperately trying to be revived by doctors in Gaza. Only, when you look at the supposedly heroic effort, it lacks one thing: any sense that the two doctors are actually performing CPR with any effort at all. A little more investigation determined that one of the doctors in the video is notorious terrorist apologist Mads Gilbert. The older brother, meanwhile, is no mere "free-lance cameraman" but the owner of a business that hosts Internet web sites for Hamas. In other words, this looks an awful attempt at propaganda that only a "professional" media outlet with a pre-existing animus to Israel would put on the air without any checking of sources. http://littlegreenfootballs.com/art...a_Gaza_Hospital CNN has pulled the video from its rotation and its web site, without any explanation or retraction. We'll see if they own up to their mistake, or simply hope no one notices. |

Israel wants to be respected by the international community after all these fuckin crimss they just committed in Gaza?
Israel is acting like a bunch of handicapped children with fancy guns shooting at anything that walks.
Disgusting.
Israel of all countries should know better than to carry out a long term and systematic oppression and subjugation of an entire race, Yeah, I went there.
I think the lie that 'palestinians commit terrorist acts against Israel because they just hate Israelies because they had their land taken' is pretty far up there with 'They did 9/11 because they hate our freedom!!11!' on the list of global scale bullshit. There's this whole farce that Palestine and Israel are two enemies on an equal footing fighting it out, when the reality is closer to someone bullying their little brother on a daily basis. Then if he tries to swing a punch back, they beat the shit out of him with a baseball bat.
They commit terrorist acts against Israel because it's the only way they can fight back against their continued occupation and slow annexation by Israel. Yeah they use some horrible methods, and I don't condone that, but Israel has pretty much been continually shitting on the Palestinians for the last 60 years. It's their only way of lashing out and striking back.
Palestinians have been deprived of all their basic rights and freedoms, mass unemployment, they can't even move about within their own territory due to the extensive system of checkpoints, they can't leave. Israel controls the flow of supplies and amenities into and out of Gaza and the West Bank and continually splices the land up with a system of jewish-only colonies and settlements that take land and supplies from the Palestinians and further divide the countryside and restrict movement. All this with the full blessings and a heavy flow of military supplies from the US. What the hell else are they supposed to do?
what kind of cheese do you want, swiss or cheddar?

here is a quick little animation that sums up the history of the region.

Everyone knows the Hamas are fucking scum. Israel is doing exactly what Hamas wants them to do. Every dead kid they can parade around the streets is a propaganda and recruiting gold mine. |
