When Did You Start Listening To Trance?

Me, it was 1998. First song I heard was DJ Tiesto - Theme from Norfjeil (spelt wrong I know it lol) and the Tiesto mix of Clockwork Orange . That got me hooked and from there started my addiction . Howza bout youz guyz?

My friend got me hooked, with Mauro Picotto - Komodo, and Kamaya Painters - Paradize. *cheesy but meh*

which was a little over a year ago :/

10 years ago, I was into techno, namely the chris sheppard trip series. I got more and more into electronica, including prodigy - experience, and Goa Trance from the early 90's. I listened to the Doctor Trance Radio hour, and bought many cds of trance, d'n'b, ambient, techno, goa, psytrance and classic house.

99
My cousin had some friends that did live sets and burnt them for her, she played them for me and I was hooked. Got myself some copies, and the rest is history.

ON a British Airways flight to London in the SUmmer of 99. I heard an Oakenfold set. I believe Grace - Not over yet..was the song that was stuck in my mind. I came home from that vacation and downloaded Oakeys essential mixes on my 56k modem. The rest is history...

I got started by listening to a bunch of oakey and some sasha-digweed stuff, but I wasn't hooked untill I heard Oakey - live at liverpool that set chaged my life, what an amazing piece of work that was 1999 I think maybe early 2000 Im not really sure

I put my addiction down to Judge Jules Live @ Media....Thats set got me hooked..he he

Early 90's at wharehouse parties. It was techno and early house I liked first. Had heard trance on numerous occasions but the summer of 98 at a Sasha & Digweed 2 hour set tuned me in and the rest is history..

I probably started listening like a year and a half ago to 2 years.

First song I ever heard that was in the whole electronica genre was from "Sasha and DJ Dado - Rave Megamix". I searched for Rave music all over the internet cuz I loved that song, and I discovered Trance. I searched for more Sasha, and love him and Digweed. I also like almost all Oakenfold does and a little Tiesto (I haven't had the time to go listening to all his tracks).

It was all a fluke actually. This kid who wasn't really my friend slept over and invaded my computer and started playing random songs so I heard the Rave Megamix and went crazy =P.

I haven't been to any clubs yet or anything cuz i'm not 18 and all the shitty ones are under 18 cuz they only play hip-hop. I'm hoping to go to BUZ at Nation in DC once I hit 18, but I've heard it kinda sucks. But I guess everyone has to have their first experiences. I kinda wish I lived in Europe somewhere cuz Trance and other types of electronica are definitely not popular around where I live. Its unfortunate. But i'll have to get used to it =P.

I started listening late last year. I had lent my freind my cd player. and when he gave it back there was a burnt pvd liveset in it. So i gave it a whirl, and the rest is history

Got hooked on trance with Robert Miles "Children" in '96

Posted by Ocean Wave on Jun-10-2002 10:49:

I started with German "techno" as most people called it at the time. Artists such as Cosmic Baby, Paul van Dyk, Kid Paul and Sven Vath back in 1993. Cosmic Baby "Fantasia" in 1994 was the first CD single I bought. Later, in 1995 I discovered Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Fluoro label with artists such as Man With No Name which was more Goa trance, in 1996 I heard Transa "Prophase" (X Cabs Remix One) on a "Trance show" on a local Radio station, that is the track which really got me hooked. To this day I still say that 1997 was the best year for trance, so many classics came around in that year!

I first used to listen to Cheesy crap but then my friend told me to download something by Oakey cause I would like it so I downloaded Oakey live at Gatecrasher '99'. The first song Planet Perfecto - Not Over Yet (Breeder Remix) had me hooked just like ExcelonGT. And this set is still ym fav and I loved it so since then I have been getting more Oakey and trance and loving it ever since. This was the start of 2001.

I think it was around 1999, when i heard a tune from oakey and got hooked instantly.

Posted by escee on Jun-10-2002 11:49:

I started with the prodigy, and then moved on to happy hardcore (big jump hey?). Happy hardcore was good for a year, but, it just wasnt going anywhere, all the tracks were becoming stale and new ones were just like old ones. Then one saturday morning while i was cleaning the house I put on a new mix I had gotten, Dj Tiesto Live at Energy New Years 99/00 from then on I was hooked.

That set is still my favourite to this day.

Early 98, got listening to a compilation "Now DAnce 98"

I loved the second tape.

It had Storm, Camisra- LEt me Show You, Lizard, 1998, Encore une Fois, and Up and Down (by Vengaboys)

I realised, that it was electronic music, and learnt that it was called trance.

Trance Nation 2 sealed the deal for me, along with tunes Alice DJ - Better off alone (Signum mix), Gouryella, and 1999!

Drunk

Right I got into trance.. the word trance.. this year.. in feb
But the actual muzik.. I found out I realy had a passion for was around 96 98..

You can actually say that I had the love for the muzik from childhood as it was in my blood.. I dont know if that makes sense.. but if it does.. good for you.. you get my train of thought..

No but realy.. I started liking it and wanting it more when in 96 98 but I was a dumb kid and had no idea how to get it..
So I only listened to Scooter.. hehe.. I still doo its fun.. brings back old memories.. of good feelings..

Later on over the years I would just get what I could from ppl that would meet and they would tell me.. about this and that.. but still I realy dindt get into it.. until this year.
