England's World Cup Chances...

Well, I must admit England's route has been interesting even after just 2 matches. A win against nigeria will see us almost undoubtedly top the group and this will mean we play senegal. If not and we qualify is second through a draw we will play denmark. To me it seems we can smell the semi finals!! I personally am very excited and can c england going far. All the big teams r shite atm...argentina,france,italy....i feel the only real threat is brazil. i am in confident mood. how do u think we will do??

i think England are playing mint (apart from sweedun match),
and i think that they'l du well this year.

Well if we qualify, we will play senegal or denmark, depending on if we come top of our group, if we win that game we will play either japan/russia/costa rica or turkey, pretty good odds id say... then its the semis so

The semi line up looks nothing like that, More like Brazil and Argentina !

personally m8, id be happy if we got to the semi's.. I've slapped a �20 bet on italy and stand to win �110 tehehe.. now that france r out it should be eas(ier) for england as we've now only got brazil and the argies in our half of the draw.. italy have got the easiest route to the final i fink..

All the major teams have shown defensive weaknesses this year, with the exception of Argentina, whose defence has proven a tough one to bust on both occasions in what is definitely the hardest group.

Defensive weaknesses:

The spanish have conceded two goals, one to Slovenia and the other to Paraguay. Not brilliant.

Denmark conceded a goal to Uruguay and a goal to Senegal.
Not brilliant.

Brazil laced China, but should rightfully have lost against Turkey, if it weren't for Rivaldo being such a girl's blouse. They only just managed to beat the Turks with a penalty, and even Costa Rica drew with the turks.

Germany like Argentina look our strongest problems, but they suffered a lot of yellow cards today, which will leave holes in their side in coming games. The Irish also gave them a tough second half.

Italy were beaten by Crotia. Admittedly Croatia are one of the best teams in Europe, but Crotia need a win tommorow to go through, and have themselves demonstrated problems losing to Mexico.

As you can, these teams have problems. England has only conceded one goal in two games against very good sides. We laced the Swedish in the first half, and the second half was down to laziness IMO. The Argies had us pinned back for 30 minutes, but in all that time they barely got two shots on target. Both these sides have had trouble getting through our defence.

I think we have a chance! For England!!!

Let's be fair; in terms of posession, of course the Argies had us pinned back, but in terms of chances, they didn't get up to much. They had us pinned back for 30 minutes outside our 18 yard box, yet I barely counted two shots on goal. Just lots of fannying around, crosses that go nowhere, corners that go nowhere, passing in triangles looking for gaps that aren't there. For half an hour they barely found a single way through the English defence.

The Argentinians had the ball but they did not have the initiative. I still think they are one of the strongest sides in the tournament, but England have shown to be a tough side who could well go far, so long as don't lose our heads like against Sweden. Mind England are an inconsistent side who don't always stick to their form, but I remain optimistic

..but i still have this naggin feeling that they'l make it hard for themselves..just like against greece (to qualify).

england have never made it look easy!

i really want them to prove me wrong!

I reckon around the quarter or maybe semi's. They played good against Argentina, but I don't think that defending a 1 goal lead works I seriously thought Argentina were getting closer and closer to a goal in the last 15 minutes of that match, England certainly are missing Steven Gerrard, not enought through balls forward, but who knows, Erickson has proved what at fantastic coach he is just look at his record with teams in club football. This world cups odd though very odd.

We'll beat Denmark to get to the Quarter Finals, Where we'll most probably face Brazil. It could either be a beautiful result or not.

However, in the unlikely event that Brazil lose to Japan, then we'll face them.

Then its the Semi's, where I can't be arsed to work out who we could posssibly face!
