Joss Whedon's Dollhouse
saw the first episode last night. for a first episode it didn't really leave me feeling warm and fuzzy ala the BSG pilot, but i have so much faith in joss it doesn't bother me too much.
nice to see some friendly faces other than dushku; fred from angel and sergeant agathon from BSG are going to be major characters.
didn't get to see much of the bad guy (the most important part of any fantasy show, at least for me) but he looks suitably evil though i cant help but think of sylar from heroes atm.
i expect big things from joss so hopefully he can deliver.

yeah, i know its only 1 ep in but without the immediate humour it hasnt grabbed me as quicky as firefly. though one character does make a reference to james edward olmos! joss always was a fan of pop culture references in buffy, back then it was B5 (for me and him) and now its BSG. its like we're linked together by good taste

I'm a big Whedon fan and will be watching. I'm a little confused at the OP comparing it to Battlestar Galactica though. What is the connection between BSG and Whedon? As a fan of both Whedon and BSG, is there a hidden connection?

Joss: Um, I think [battlestar galactica] obsessive is too light a word. I absolutely adore it. It's my favorite show ever. Come on, it's "The West Wing" with space battles. It covers all of my needs. I watch their storytelling and go, "Oh, so that's how it's done. Fvck." |

First episode was meh. Could be an interesting show though.
Last nights episode was much better and it's beginning to build a story, mystery, and characters.
yeah, a solid improvement. could use some subtlety when explaining plot points. show, don't tell! i guess joss wanted things explained a little more obviously than axed firefly, so you can't really blame him.
So, 10 eps in. what is everyone thinking? I must admit im quite enjoying it. Despite its shiny veneer whedon has managed to inject some gritty depth to the concepts and characters so its much more interesting than I originally thought. It is still lacking most of the humour so readily available in joss' previous efforts, but you can't have everything.

I've heard it's kind of a soap opera. ![]()

the last several episodes have been really good.| quote: |
