Confederations Cup

if you lika de futbol i hope you're watching.

yesterday SA and Iraq tied.
Spain whooped on New Zealand

today Brazil and Egypt had a 7 goal thriller wit Brazil winning 4-3 on a Kaka PK (PS Real Madrid made BIG MOVES this transfer period as discussed in the other thread. wow)

right now i'm getting my live blog on as landon donovan just put US up 1-0 against italy on a ok, even though we only have 10 on the field. go US!!!!

i thnik jozy altidore and the coach's kid, michael bradly, will be the difference makers

Brazil got lucky today, they didn't play a good game and were able to squeeze out a victory. Hopefully the US will pull this victory. Onyewu needs to do a better job a clearing the ball if we want to have a shot at winning.

And.....The US sucks. I'm amazed we're ranked 14th by FIFA. We shouldn't even be in the top 50.

Posted by thedevastation on Jun-15-2009 20:32:

certain US players need to step it up. Donovan cant do it all.

Altidore, Edu, Bradley...the list goes on. I like to add how useless beasley is to this team.

I disagree. even if we had been even i doubt we'd have won. There's not enough fluidity in the US offense. We're getting close. I saw glimpses of dazzling ball movement, but the comment about onyewu needing to do a better job clearing is too true, even though he is a solid anchor to our D.

wednesday is another day I guess

I agree... Italy doesn't play amazing soccer either; their name and history gives people a false sense of respect, but in the past few times the US has played them, we've either won, or given them a run for their money...

We have some key young players and I look forward to them maturing and seeing where the team goes...

As for the 14th spot on Fifa, a lot of you guys are forgetting that even teams like England, Argentina, Spain, etc., they all get knocked out in the first couple rounds of the World Cup too Statistically, England ain't too much better than the US..

I see England kind of a joke. With so many good players, I don't know why they can't win anything.

I think Beasley used to be pretty good. Up until he injured his knee while on loan to Manchester City I think?

he just knows how to run up and down the sidelines. Besides he has no physical presence either. Hes made of paper.

I agree, we have no offense at all. Bradley takes out Altidore in the second half when we need to score. Why would you take out ur goal scoring leader and the person responsible for getting the PK that is your only goal at a time when you need to score? Bruce Arena was a better coach.

USA's beating Spain right now!

Posted by DJ Eco on Jun-24-2009 20:32:

We've looked good the past 2 games... very good...

Posted by thedevastation on Jun-24-2009 20:35:

im totally surprised. It was a good game and the US team definitely deserved to win it.

Posted by j_moua on Jun-24-2009 20:37:

haha That's what they said about us winning against Spain

On another note, I think everyone in Europe is elated over this game. It just leveled the playing field, as they all realized simultaneously, "Hmmm... We're not all that good anymore,"... England realized it a few Cups ago, then France and Germany, recently Italy, and now Spain... They've all gotta watch their backs in 2010, and it's a scary thought..

USA 3 - 0 Egypt
USA 2 - 0 Spain

I'm shocked we won. I'm not going to lie, i thought we had no chance. It's good to see we can bounce back like this after those first 2 horrid games. However we have gotten 3 red cards in the last 4 games, some not deserved, but still an issue. Hopefully we can pull this out, but even if we lose in the finals, all that matters to me is that we beat those damn Mexicans in Mexico in WC qualifying in august.
