Idea What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory was from when I was about 2 years old, sitting on my great grandmothers lap (or her friends laps) at her house... all I remember was the room was longer than it was wider from where we were sitting, the door was on the left side close to the entrance of the kitchen and it was smoky and sort of pale yellow in the house.

The next memory I can recall is about 6 months later at the time of her funeral staying with my great aunt and uncle and wanting some chocolate milk made from hershey powder in the tin can...

After that its all sorts of blurred memories, I remember my brothers umbilical chord remains falling off, but that might have been a dream from back then cause I remember flying to the bathroom to flush it down the toilet... x2

I remember this at 14 months old when I was a farmers child just outside Bombay.

I remember playing with my grandfather and his dog on the driveway of his house... he died shortly after I turned 2.

not sure i can count this as a memory because i dreamt it years later but i fell out of my crib onto my head when i was like 18months old. other than that i vaguely remember being ~3

I'm not sure how old I was exactly, but I was sitting on a couch with my father and thinking how strange it is that I see the world with my own eyes like this and if everybody else see it the same way.

It was like *BOOM* "wtf, I exist ".

Also, when I was about 5 or 6 or so, I remember getting the almighty NES and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest with it. I played the fuck out of that god awful game, but I loved it at the time.

Everything else is just a stupid fast forward of boring shit I don't even want to remember.

I was in a history museum with my brother's kindergarten class, must have been 2 or 3, got to look at all the cool dinosaurs.

At the beach in one of the carolina's. I just remember sand and seeing a crab and being scared. Sometime around 2 years old.

I have earlier impressionistic fragments of memories, but the first vividly complete memory is of the Berlin Wall falling, actually. It was my birthday, and it happened in the middle of my birthday party, and I remember my parents getting distracted when they were supposed to be lighting the candles on my cake.

Jumping out of my crib when I was like... 2 years old or something, and breaking my collar bone.

Remember being in day care and asking the kid next to me if he wanted to colour with me. I might have been 3 at that point.

Being at my babysitters and wanting a pillow to sleep with.

That's awesome... When I was a baby I shook my dresser to get the ceramic bear that was sitting up there, and needless to say, it fell on my face and I got stitches

Apparently, according to my mom, I took everything that was in my crib, piled it up into the corner, climbed up on top of it and threw myself to the floor.

My mom heard a thump and my screaming and was wondering "wtf?". She was totally flabbergasted at how I figured a way to jump out. Haha!

She consoled me, took all my stuff out of the crib and put me back to bed.

Apparently when she took me to day care the next day, one of the workers tried to pick me up and I guess shifted my bone (that was broken), and it sent me into a screaming fit of shock. They called my mom and told her to come get me. Obviously she ended up taking me to the ER. I bet that was a hard story to convince the doctors of.

Funny thing is, I remember it clearly. I didn't want to be in bed (I was a brat when it came to going to bed), so I devised a plan and jumped out. I remember looking out the door thinking "WHY ISN'T SOMEONE COMING TO GET ME!?" before I jumped.

I was no more than 18 months old I'm told by my mom. I remember being in some home that was daycare. I was standing in a play pen with my hands on the top and my eyes looking over. I wasn't thinking in words yet, but the feeling I had was, "I gotta get out of here."

I remember playing in the garden at my grandparents house with their 3 dogs of the time. Would've been 18months ish

Remember getting my arm stuck behind the pipes in the bathroom and cutting myself copying my dad shaving, was about 2 then.

I wish this wasn't my earliest memory but...

My parents told me that I almost got kicked out of pre-school because I beat up the resident bully with my teddy bear. He got served so bad that he cried, and at 4 crying just isn't cool anymore.

I can't remember.

My earliest memories are of waking up from dreams. The first one I can recall was when I was about 3 I guess. I "woke up" in my dream, face down on my pillow...and the pillow turned into a face. Scared the shit out of me.

The other one I can recall -was around the same time - was that little red devils were climbing up through the heat vent and into my crib (yes I still slept in a crib when I was 3, I loved it, ok?? ), and tickling me to death.

Also another one which was a fever dream, in which I was bucked off a bronco at a rodeo. I woke up in the same position (sorta hunched over on top of my knees/fetal position style) that I was in in the dream, trying to protect myself from the wild bronco.

My parents were building the house that I eventually grew up in. I was about 3. Most of the house had been built, except for the deck, which only had the posts in the ground so far.

Between 2 of the posts there was a diagonal cross beam, and I'd straddled it to climb higher. You know that sort of climb you do, where you're sitting on something and you put your hands in front of you, between your legs, and sort of slide yourself forward? Yeah, that's what I was doing. On a freshly cut piece of timber. And I got shitloads of splinters all up both my inner thighs

i had a toy hovercraft, i only know that i was old enough to walk on my own.

i was running around the living room barefoot & i stepped on the mother******. cut up my toe, somehow. i don't think i really did because i imagine the toy being made out of plastic.

anyhoo, i was convinced that blood was gushing out of my toe, & that i could see the bone inside. my mother gave me some juice & all of the pain & fear went away.

my mom said this was right around my 2nd bday but we use to have a wrap-a-round porch at our house and my dad bought me a big wheel (with built in water shooter) for my bday. I have this memory of me driving around the porch as fast as i could go spraying water on the plants on the porch. i miss being a kid

wow a clear memory. when i "jumped" out of my crib it was more like a dream. not sure why i brought it up but i asked my mom and she confirmed. most of my early memories of were of me doing things i wasn't supposed to do.

When I was less than a year old I had a needle inserted into my head through a plastic cup during a surgery. I remember that.

Bombs over Baghdad (seriously). I wasn't scared at all, it was like a superb fireworks show from my infantile perspective.
