Nice vids, first track from second vid is Dance Disorder - My Time (Radio Slave's Rekids Tribe Mix)

Posted by smokedfx on Jul-16-2009 21:18:

that's just amazing
any ID's from the videos?

Posted by coroknight on Jul-17-2009 00:08:

I doubt they played hours of just regular beatport songs. We only got to hear like 6 songs.

That's exactly why ive lost interest in them. Its mainstream tripe for sheep following shepherds.
Radio slave is monotonous boring self absorbed bilge that he churns out in exactly the same formulated way.
Properly fucking dire choice of music too, i mean why would anyone want to put a lyric into a track that talks about visiting a site where their family is killed? Its fucking dance music for fuck sake, for dancing to believe it or not.oh hang on Gui Borato has remixed it so lets play it. The whole scene at this level is a fucking sham designed to relieve people of their hard earned to the max just to listen to borderline mainstream claptrap. Wank.

Whats wrong with playing tracks bought from beatport if they're all good? That's the only criteria imo.

Posted by lord lucan on Jul-17-2009 05:11:

there's nothing wrong with it at all. but you'd expect to be hearing upfront cutting edge music from them.Especially for the money they charge. Like Nam said its just fucking lazy and easy money.

I miss their classic progressive sound

Both Sasha and Digg were always about not what they play but HOW they play. And i highly doubt they would play unreleased tracks when they know they are being recorded. Just look at the last incident with illegal Nick Warren set and Nick's unhappiness about it. If someone thinks, he can easily imitate their harmonic mixes and set building just with a computer and few clicks - go for it ! Maybe you'll become a next star.

p.s. there are many other djs charging similar money playing much worser crap. What about trance and techno superstars ?

VERY WELL SAID !!!!!!!

Helmets on, here comes the Sasha saviour brigade.

Posted by mades on Jul-17-2009 09:12:

nsamadi: It's funny to say that any bedroom dj can imitate S&D. Show me then! There are many ways for you to promote the mix, just add "S&D imitation mix" to your mix description and you can be sure to reach thousands of downloads. But can you handle the direct comparison ? Stop with the crap and show me.

And regarding "computer mixing", do you think that beatmatching is the actual essential work on the mix? Any ape can do it. But again, i'd be glad to hear how the computer can build a harmonic mix like Sasha @ Sky Club, Digg @ Matter or both @ Lady Windridge.

p.s. djing is a very easy job i am pretty sure. But to come to the level of yourself when you can charge shitloads of money and do the same easy playing every night and actually get seriously PAID, you have to work a lot, compose and produce. Do you think Sasha and Digger didn't work on their positions within the industry for the last 20 years hard enough ?

As for Lord Lucan, you are a known S&D basher on every forum which says it all. I am sure you didn't like the Sky Club set or Vagabond/Matter aswell.

agreed, but come on, moby wrote pale horses not gui boratto. and yes, radio slave produces a lot of similar stuff that is often long and a bit boring but his live sets are usually very good and he has also produced a lot of quality imo (grindhouse, eyes wide open, rj, moan remix, serotone remix, dooms night remix etc..)

Posted by ThaMaestro on Jul-17-2009 10:09:

although i agree with most being said here about the tracklist of S&D: can anyone tell me the tracks they play? 1 track is already ID-ed, but i'd like to know th rest too

To be fair, it's difficult to be upfront and cutting edge these days when we all have access to every track that's played within 10 minutes of the gig. Out of curiosity, who do you think fits the bill in terms of cutting edge these days? I agree with you that Sasha and Diggers aren't it right now, but it doesn't mean their sets are not at a decent standard.

Posted by maddraver on Jul-17-2009 18:40:

im sure all those people are talking about how lazy they are and how those tracks are on beatport etc...just because a couple of people on these forums know the name of a track doesn't mean the whole fucking world knows them. some people have jobs, travel, kids, school, or whatever it is and dont have the time or care about what is the name of that track? how old is it? etc...not everyone is a dj. they go out to have a good time, dance, get fucked up and listen to music with friends. it looks like thats whats going on in those videos. thanx for the vidz!

hahaha!
Nsamadi posted all of the tune ID's... then deleted his contributions to this thread. Weirdo.

1st vid kicks off with Rui Da Silva Remix of I ThinK Of You, then mixes to Gui Boratto Remix of MOby Pale Horses

2nd vid was a Radio Slave track and ID i think

3rd vid has Radio Slave Full Vox mix of Humate Love Stimulation

Posted by lord lucan on Jul-18-2009 04:40:

have a listen to that n expo set knocking about at the mo, you find a recent set that gives that kind of energy from when sasha hits the decks at Universal State of Mind, the mix between that and pop in wonderland just isn't achieved any more, the mix or transition (as its so fucking annoyingly been renamed now by nerds) is faultless. Doing that on vinyl is incredibly fucking hard, even by todays standards.
To put this by the sets of today just shows them up for what they are, calculated monotony for the uninitiated.

Posted by lord lucan on Jul-18-2009 04:49:

what i failed to point out is, that all the technology of today has done nothing for the energy, infact its destroyed it. Its too clean too perfect, to boring, add the incredibly dire kind of radio slave stuff and your looking at an hour of complete mind numb.

im heading to see S&D here in Atlanta .... my expectations are low but Im still going.... it might be a hell of a show .. I HOPE

I saw Sasha the first time when I was 19 in 1999 .. awesome show during mardigras in New Orleans ...

they are legends .. who else play b2b nowadays??

I do feel their music its monotonous sometimes

we'll see what they bring tonight ....
im relly looking forward for this shouw

Well said, they might as well have a robot up there playing songs. On the contrary, take a look at the Carl Cox for an instance, his sets are always full of energy and his mixing just never gets boring to me.
