I think this needed cross-posted: All Ages Rave! Every 2nd Friday of the month!

Right here in Atlanta! I want the first show to rent out an orphanage or donate the show to some orphanage. Then get me to play, I have plenty of orphanrave in my crates.

Have the doormen hand out smartees and encourage the kids to sell them to one another.

Posted by Lostvission on Jul-20-2009 06:03:

this cant be fucking real. WTF

"*Guaranteed safe, secure, and drug free environment"

They're marketing this to parents and politicians, not the people actually going to attend

Hahah, so maybe this whole event is an elaborate sting operation? I saw this flyer on my car after S&D, and I was briefly intrigued, not noticing that it's an "all ages show." I'm glad you brought this to my attention; if I attended this I'd probably wind up on some kinda watch list (at age 27).

Here is what they promoter is saying about the party:

quote:

Nu Rave is here to help bring in the new generation of party kids. Were here to help support the scene and help bring in the new batch of ravers. We only promote P.L.U.R and discourage jadedness and those who forgot what it's like to be a teenager and wanting to go out and experience the world. If anyone would like to come out and support our cause. We need knowledgeable DJ's, seasoned ravers and all the dancers to come out and educate the new kids on music, our passion and love for the scene!

They act as though they actually have an important history and culture to promote outside of mind-bending drug ingestion.

were you thinking of going

Posted by PVDfan07 on Jul-20-2009 15:09:

Considering you pretty much have to be on drugs to be a candy raver or whatever they are called, it seems unlikely this would be drug free. I'm sure Calamar was just briefly intrigued not seriously going. It really does look like a joke.

YEEEAAAHH, PLUR.

Hey, it's increasingly tough to find any trance on the weekends these days, and we won't have another big weekday event until, what, early September?

... But, no, I wasn't seriously considering it.

Posted by Scottaculous on Jul-20-2009 15:24:

Masquerade parties are always good for jailbait ravers.

If you see this man, you need to GTFO.

This is retarded. Kid should not be going out.

Posted by Lostvission on Jul-20-2009 18:11:

This type of event has nothing to do with our scene. To my knowledge none of us here are candy kids. I could be wrong but i believe we are all music lovers and just love edm. That candy kid scene is fuckin pathetic and horrid. Even when the real rave scene was here back when i hated it profusely. I was so glad when being dressed normal and going to decent clubs became the norm. Most people at raves arent fans of this music anyways. This music is simply paraphernalia to them that goes hand in hand with their nights experience. You have no idea how many "hardcore rave purists" i knew who once they got out of the "rave scene" abandoned all their liking of edm entirely. They never really were fans just party heads. Here with people like us...we are all fans. No one is diggin Joris Voorn cause listening to balance was sooooo fucking trippy while we were pilled up blah blah blah. Rave kids are fake god damn douchebags for the most part. Im sure theres a few cool kids but im speaking on this thing as a whole. Im glad this shit went extremely underground. And for this party...this is just a douchenozzle e pit. If any of you actually go.....

oh and btw....did anyone notice the raver section at sasha/diggers ? They were in the corner by the bar segregated to themselves not giving 2 shits about the show. It was only about 20 of them all sitting indian style watching some kid who had very bad freehand style of dancing as if he was the messiah. These fuckin kids i tell you...

I have no idea why I was helping you put it back on and not hurling it across the room.

Hey, show some love for the candy kids.

We can have such a narrow definition of what an acceptable EDM party is like sometimes. Yeah, I might not want to reach for the lasers while getting my groove on to Tiesto mixes. But you know, there was a time when I was 16 and I did because that was the only EDM that was really accessible (although times have certainly changed) and it piqued my interest and made me dive deeper into the scene.

Besides, everyone needs some glow sticks every now and then.

I dont mind candy kids. I know a few that are cool. However, i think the majority of them don't give much of a fuck about the music and they are mainly interested in drugs. I think they somewhat are a embarrassment to electronic music really. It's sad that people who don't listen to our music tend to picture these kids in their head when someone talks about electronic music to them. No, they don't picture normal dressed people listening to music, they picture wacked out drug addicts doing light shows. It blows that every time i speak to a non edm listener about the music i love they instantly insert the words "rave, pills, glowsticks" in the conversation somehow. Blah, my verdict is candy rave kids = fail.
