I've been wanting to do a Prog type of mix for a while now, but with the tail end of summer limiting my time to spend on music, and then moving into a new house + school starting, I just haven't had much time for anything mixing-wise. I worked the tracklist for this out a few weeks ago, and since then have recorded a couple times and switched some things around. I just couldn't get to a point where I felt good about it, so I just decided to eat a brownie last night, get ripped, and finish it off.
There's a lot of older stuff in here, some new as well, but it's mostly the same type of big room standard prog. I'm really not sure what people will think of this, but I just wanted to get it done at this point. I consider this more of a "fun" mix, nothing serious, just a bunch of tracks I really like and felt like putting together. The mixing is definitely not my best, some shady transitions here and there and I think there might be a few problems in terms of flow (I can't ever judge my mixes accurately after a while, they all just sound bad). Hope it's enjoyable, comments welcome as always. Sorry to those who I usually comment on in the DJ Promotion section by the way. Just been really busy lately and haven't had the motivation to delve down here as of late, I feel bad about that.
edit: SYSTEM-J, I hope you aren't too upset that I jacked a track from your prog mix, I just really liked it.
I'll be interested to see how you mixed acid trance with minimal tech-house and old-school prog.
Huh? Oh, if you're talking about Minilogue, that track does not sound like Minilogue at all.
In.

I'm still gonna listen.
I was just on Last.fm and I saw you'd been listening to a prog house mix, so I came on here in anticipation and found you've been stealing my tracks. Closing with Blue Amazon as well! Most definitely in, you magnificent bastard.
Heard a bit of it. I'll take it though, and cherish it. And prog it slowly into progbits.
aight.
Downloading now
Oh cool, you finished it. Putting it on the ipod for the week.
DLing. ![]()
I'm always up for good prog. DL'ing now.
Nostalgic finally got to you, eh?
I'll check it out, "I Have Put Out The Light" is one of my favorite tracks ever.
Just got really burned out on tech house and techno as of late, been messing around with a lot of other music, for mixing purposes and otherwise.
Thanks for the interest guys.
I didn't have anywhere else to post this
"Saviour" Music Video
THANKS FOR THAT.
Really enjoyed the mix, thought it flowed quite well. I had heard the majority of the tracks before, but it had been a while for most of them and they went well together. Nicely done.
I gave this a listen today, and I'd probably agree that this set felt a bit directionless at times, especially early on. The transition out of Lost In A Pattern was very... unconventional as well. Did you just cut the bass and mix the breaks in over it, or was there more fancy Ableton trickery at work? Either way, it felt quite forced.
The breaks section through to Holden was probably my favourite part, but I think the momentum was lost a bit with the two tracks before Blue Amazon, which was otherwise a nice track to finish on.
I thought the tuneage was nice but overall I wasn't convinced by the flow, to contradict JBJ.
Yeah, this is a pretty weak offering and I'm well-aware of that. Part of my reason for posting it in the first place is I lost a lot of momentum in terms of improving my mixing over the summer, and I felt like I needed some sort of motivation to jump back into it. At the moment I'm quite over Ableton. I don't know what it is, I just do not like it at all for mixing so I'm probably going to end up switching to Traktor.
Anyways, thanks for listening guys.
Got around to listening to this in full today. I've never been huge into prog, so my knowledge is fairly limited and this is all pretty much new to me. None of the first few tracks stood out to me, but it started picking up around 'Lost In A Pattern' and I was hooked. The mixing was fine, and I don't think the flow was too terrible - just plodded along rather steadily.
Definitely some good tracks in here, and its a genre I'll have to explore some more. Word for trying something a little different.
edit: oh and Habersham ATL represent
Loved the Minilogue track, quite different from what I'm used to hearing from those guys. And oh yes, I Have Put Out The Light is godly.
Gave it a listen. I echo J's commentary for the most part. The flow kinda dipped in and out a bit. The tracks were good though you know which ones I'm not particularly keen about.
It woke me up this morning though, for sure.
saw dousk, chab, and yunus guvenen and i was like "woot"
gonna give this a listen now and see what i think
