Paul Keeley Appreciation Thread

Is this guy amazing or what?

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Sep-12-2009 04:25:

Both tracks sounded a bit too samey but definitely better than I expected.

This guy is really good at making fluffy prog, but a lot of his tracks do tend to sound the same. I know I have one of his tracks (I forget the name and its on a different computer so I'm not going to check) and it sounds almost exactly like paper jet.

Trans AM and A Sort Of Homecoming would be my favourites.

Bart van Wissen also did a great remix of "Paper Jet" - didn't fancy the original myself.

"Is this guy amazing or what?"

no

He's alright, but he's far from the best artist on Anjunadeep, and his sound is pretty generic.

Posted by RebeL9 on Sep-12-2009 11:56:

Sounds way too generic and easily forgettable. The fancy pictures wont be any help here.

I wouldn't say amazing, but I do really like his work.

His stuff on Epsilonlab and EQ Grey was good, but I don't like his new stuff

That's the famous pic from Menno de Jong giving a bitch the finger

I used to be a huge Paul Keeley fan myself, but haven't been following his new stuff after Paper Jet. I have a set I made a year ago full of Paul Keeley tunes, if anyone wants to take a listen.

My personal favorite has to be his remix of Liluca's 'Naam'.

I like this "fluffy prog" from Paul Keeley.

his epsilonlab/thinner releases is the best stuff he's ever done

Posted by daphunky1 on Sep-13-2009 06:16:

"Sunset Boulevard" is awesome, and a lot more banging in comparison to his other stuff.

LOVE playing that out.

That bassline just means business

really sets an atmosphere and grabs attention

First came across him after hearing his remix of Friday Coffee. Then Paper Jet came out and blew me away. Followed it up with the lovely Life Aquatic.

I love the progressive yet extremely "fluffy" trademark sound he has under this alias. Great music to listen to whether relaxing or dancing outdoors at a day festival.

He's got a couple of good tracks. I really enjoyed his remix of "Soliquid - Shibuya".
