I wanted virtual reality to be a staple in todays world.

i wanted vacations on the moon.

what the hell is wrong with everyone.

ou we have cell phones. that shit was available in the 80s.

ffs I demand more.

the hubble telescope is from the 80s. the pictures aren't very good.

yah they're billions of lightyears away..but i want HD quality ffs.

anyway i agree.
in the 80s everything was so future focused and then it went to shit.
can we skip the 90s plz?

the technological singularity is predicted to happen in 2045. after that, all of your technological dreams will come true.

i want to teleport ffs.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Sep-14-2009 04:50:

i wanna live somewhere else different where I can be confident of my faults
ain't gotta be focusing on my cell to remind myself that nobody's called
don't gotta bite my lower lip lonely in a crowd of couples
where i'm rewarded for my bravery and sense of adventure by levels
clearly pasted plastered bannered and highlighted on the front page

of my PSN account page

my current understanding is that that would kill you, but an exact replica of you would be recreated, so that to everyone else it would be you.

except it wouldn't be you.

Same with uploading a mind to a machine

the concept of teleportation is an interesting one on a philosophical level as well...

If you believe you have a soul, then teleporting would probably work out, if not, then its just a reconsitution of your matter someplace else.

Who is to say that it would even let you retain memories, as they could just constitute certain electrical patterns in the brain.

That is of course if you consider teleportation as a moving of matter from one spot to another.

If teleportation could be developed where you move through time and space, or time and space move around you, then you can theoretically teleport with out having to worry about your self being lost in the process.

Of course that would require finding ways to break many fundamental laws of physics...

correctomundo motherfucka atomic reconstruction =/= teleportation cause you get fucking disintegrated in the process

I'm not sure which Hubble telescope you're talking about but you might want to check this out:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...mosaic_edit.jpg

Does that count as HD quality?

You're probably not aware of this either, but the SOHO image/movie gallery is amazing. Most people don't know this but we've captured video of comets impacting with the sun.

this is what everybody actually wants. but we all pretend to be interested in teleportation, virtual reality lololol

Posted by jdat on Sep-14-2009 12:32:

hd quality?

man do you even have an hd set at your house running bluray and what not?

Our eyesight is well superior to HD and the fact you want to live that "reality" shows how much you've fallen to marketing ploys.

Don't be so ungrateful you no do gooder

Re: Is anybody else unimpressed with todays technology

Anybody not impressed with today's technology is either ignorant or living in a fantasy. Don't even try to compare the cell phones of today to those of the 80's cause it's just laughable. The hubble space telescope is also millions of times more advanced than your stupid little "HD" camera's.

For fucks sakes

nanotechnology and self-assembly is pretty impressive, right? i mean all the things you can do with it (theoretically)
