Coldplay tops them easily.

Not that that makes them any better.

The only reason theyre 'big' is because they extremely over-played. Its not that people really literally like those fuc*erz, but they know 'of' them and their promoters have done hella good marketing. But yea man, i cant stand their music. Theres absolutely no substance to any of their songs.

Posted by FuzzQi on Sep-17-2009 07:24:

I liked them for about a week. I just get tired of the lead singer's voice, especially their older stuff like from around 2005.

This girl I like is into them so I pretend I don't mind.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Sep-17-2009 11:59:

My friend has a theory that nobody actually likes The Kings Of Leon. They're just a "big band" and so everyone feels inclined to buy the album because everyone's talking about it.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Sep-17-2009 12:31:

I rather dislike their new album, but loved them before that. I've heard that the band themselves aren't too keen on the new album either, but spend all their time playing those tracks cause they're the only ones audiences know.

You should put her straight or she can fuck off.

Even the locals here in Nashville can't stand them.

Yeah kind of like how people think music is good because it's on the radio, rather than it's on the radio because it's good.

Kings of leon are shit now, some of their early stuff was ok. All the songs I've heard off the new album could easily be in my top 30 most hated songs of all time.

Their sound improved in their new album (as far as mastering/sound quality is concerned), but their older songs were better. The problem is they play Sex On Fire and Use Somebody on the radio 100 times a day, and it makes them sound overplayed and shitty. Their concerts sound exactly the same as their albums, and they don't improvise or interact with the crowd much. They're actually one of the more talented bands around, I can't think of any "newer" bands that have more creative melodies, lyrics, and content. Most new rock bands are total shit.

Posted by lenazi on Sep-17-2009 16:11:

if you are calling kings of leon talented you need to have your head examined. I've seen a lot of bands, but i have never been to a show this flat and bland in my life.

take sex on fire.

it is a pretty much a foo fighters song with a different singer and words.

nothing is original, they are recycling styles of music from the 90's which is actually ok for a band to do because this happens with any style of music...the problem with kings of leon is that nothing they do has their own twist to it. Flat, uninspired arena rock that all sounds the same. 0 crowd interaction other than *insert city* is so beautiful i am so happy to be here.

they are a glorified cover band, and if i had to see one of those i would choose that one that does pink floyd (forget the name, but they do it amazingly and i think they are australian) because they sound more original doing other peoples songs than kings of lame.

i should not even care, but i think just the fact that seeing them made me somewhat angry could be a testament to how generic and useless that i think this band is. I hate modern rap, but i enjoyed little wayne more than this, and he sucked pretty bad.

red morning light.

Is it sad that I have no idea who this band is and as far as I know have never heard any songs by them?

Sounds the same as Nickelback in my neck of the woods.

and foo fighters is pretty much like stone temple pilots... please dude. give me a break. welcome to globalized marketing.

uniqueness and originality is very subjective these days.

btw, stone temple pilots is pretty much like pearl jam and pearl jam is pretty much like temple of the dog, etc.

i agree that kins of leon is weak at some points, but their guitar signature sound is rather fresh, in these times, considering it's mainstream music.

regarding their live shows, i saw them last summer in ny and also thought they sucked, but then again, pvd never interacted with the crowd and look at him, his shows are almost always packed!

Posted by lenazi on Sep-17-2009 16:55:

i would say nickleback and kol are at about the same place on my shit - o - meter.

you are comparing a dj to a vocalist your post fails right there.

second fail...without the grunge movement stp would be nowhere. The grunge movement became huge because of nirvana...guess who was in that band.

The only thing fresh about KOL's guitar work, were the beaver tails that they sold at the concession stands. Dave Grohl is more talented than anyone you will mention in your rebuttal.

i'm not comparing their music, i'm comparing the fact that you mentioned that the band didn't interact with the public. that's all. focus.

regarding stp i was just referring to your comment on foo fighters, all bands are influenced by other bands, thats where most inspiration comes from.

your reading comprehension skills are below average, please practice.

thanks.
