Nice remix, Nightshift! Overall, the mix sounds good, maybe a little on the boomy side for my taste, but solid and punchy. I like the arrangement and flow of the track as well. My only criticism is that the vocals have some harshness to them in the nasal range. I'd suggest sweeping around in the 1kHz-4kHz range and see if you can reduce some of that. Other than that, I really liked the mix - nice work!

Wow that was really good! I am still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Love the break down. Nice synth work. Good mixing. Nice solid track.

Good mix man. I like your idea for this track.

Keep them rolling.

Hey man, a valiant effort here! I like your re-interpretation of the melody, for a sec I was scared that you weren't going to bring it back after the break lol but glad you did cos it's really good. as cryo said your vocals sound a little different from the acapella, kinda twisted around and yeah "nasal" in a way, not sure if I like the effect but I get what you were going for, trying to take some of the cheese factor off them to fit in with your progression which isn't as bright and happy as the original. Nice work overall, if all the entries are of this calibre then mine doesn't stand much chance! Haha

Hey, nice work on the remix. I think your bassline really moves the track along. IMO, I would have a added little more melody to the intro and maybe shortened the break down. Good luck on the contest anyways..

thank you for your replies, I'm glad you guys liked it!

The vocal was definitely hard to work with, I was not completely happy with them at the end result, but it is what I had to turn in.

personally i would to hear the drop at 4:22 but im not one whos good with structure so don't care for it. cool how you mixed this, the kick has a lot of low sounds beefy, but the bass is pretty mid. some pro ass builds.

was actually also working on a remix of that tune, but i lost interest with it. Nice remix youve done here. Nice arrangement and wellproduced. Im personally not that keen on long breakdowns, so the 2.5 min breakdwon tipped me off a bit. I would rather see that the climax around 4:20 would start it up. But thats just my personal preferences. To conclude; nice job

Like this!

The track has a lots of energy and the synths/pads work really well with the vocals!

Good work!

Thanks for the feedback guys, in all honesty I almost lost interest in it too from working on it too vigorously in the first 2 weeks of the competition.

Keep going man, you really have a talent.

Can you see the light on the end of the tunnel?

Posted by Nightshift on Oct-15-2009 17:25:

Thank you all for your replies they were much appreciated!

However I did not win (or even get in the top 10) of the contest.

But that doesnt matter, I feel I produced something worth it by your repsonses.

Thanks!

We found out about it here, on this very forum :P Someone from Factual posted a call for submissions about a month ago. Beatport and Soundcloud also run regular comps which they advertise on their homepages.

Posted by MSZ on Oct-18-2009 05:28:

wow i totally missed it ;D

i dont like to pay for remix comps.

Posted by Nightshift on Oct-18-2009 11:24:

It was a free remix competition bro

Posted by Owsey on Oct-18-2009 12:09:

Good effort, Nightshift I found that the vocals in the breakdown were a tad too harsh sounding, I agree with Cryo about an EQ cut on them. I like the way you've organized them, though.

The breakdown was also too long for my tastes, but again that's personal preference. Nice job!

For me everything is fine just the break,i wood do it like impetto
Smooth comming with your melody instead of returning straight with your beat,But thats just my opinion, the rest is good, and mayby more sparcle
on your mixing,high frequency
These are just some minor changes
