Above & Beyond along with Boom Jinx | Wednesday November 11th 2009 | Atlanta, GA

Yeaah! And Boom Jinx, too? Awesome.
Above & Beyond's last show was incredible, and I hope they're set up on the stage again. Hopefully Tony will be there this time?
Wednesday lame... =(
Will be heading back down to Atlanta again for this. Boom Jinx opening is perfect.
Killer.
really upset i'm going to miss them again----wish they would get booked in charlotte!
I've been missing A&B over the years somehow, I've made it to Tony and Jono's signing @ Satellite years back but missed their show due to "love parade" in San Francisco
They are one of the producers/DJs that I want to see in years, I'll be there this time
SO excited!
Never seen Above and Beyond live before and really looking forward to it. I would love to meet up with anyone who might be interested in grabbing dinner and a couple drinks before the show. Might even be a good idea if dinner location was close enough to walk to Opera. I only want to pay for parking once. Anyway, if you are interested send me a PM!
oh man I'm definitely not missing them this time.
Uff. why cant Opera place such events on weekend! There is people working during week!!!!! I'm gonna miss again A&B...
When/where can we buy tickets and how much is VIP?

Originally posted by Dream Beamz jeez, ever been to a party on a Monday. I do believe we had Paul Van Dyk on a Monday here in Charlotte back in 2004. I was just happy and thankful he was here back then. Quit your complaining if your not going to step up and bring a DJ on a weekend yourself. There are many many reasons a party gets thrown on a weekday, most that people just simply wont grasp.

Originally posted by GAtrancegirl24 Yes, it sucks that many shows are on weeknights and it certainly seems to be happening more recently than in the past (at least from my experiences) For instance, why can't headlining DJ's play at venues OTHER than Opera?! I believe it's beccause Liquified has some kind of arrangement with Opera and to make matters worse Opera has an arrangement for Q100 in which they host the party at Opera every goshdarn Saturday night.
People do need to stop complaining. If you want to see them bad enough, you can deal with being tired one day at work or school. I mean, I always hear this, yet when I complain about a show being in Charlotte and not here, people act like it's not that bad of a drive. Well, an 8 hour round trip drive is a lot worse than getting a few hours less sleep on a week day. Just a side note. I actually prefer the week days believe it or not. The weekends have more people just going out to party which means during the week less people at the show. Sounds good to me!
I hope to go this show! It may be worth coming out more!
Was not aware that Opera wasn't doing that Q100 thing anymore. I am trying to organize a group to go to this event and want to know what time the doors open?

Originally posted by Dream Beamz Man, I remember when I used to come down to Atlanta all the time on week nights and have to work in Charlotte the next day. The round trip was kinda rough. And clubs used to stay open later too because the "2am closing law" was not in effect yet
The problem is that all the biggest DJs play in Atlanta on Wednesday nights. For example, I believe PVD, Armin, and Ferry were all on Wednesday nights. Oakenfold was here last November on a Monday. Markus was on a Thursday. etc...
Now David Guetta, Sasha, & Above & Beyond are also on Wednesdays. I understand why these DJs booked on Wednesdays; the cost is lower and the venue (Opera) will still get a good crowd.
However, I believe for a city with the population of Atlanta, the top DJs should be booked during the weekend.
Maybe the issue is booking DJs @ Opera. Opera will usually be packed on a Friday or Saturday without a big DJ performance. It makes good business sense to book the biggest talent on weekdays.
I was excited to see that Tiesto was being brought in on a Saturday night, but we all know how that turned out...
Just my two cents...

Originally posted by Liquified I'm really not getting why everyone is saying all the shows are on weeknights. Its completely way off! We have headlining DJ's playing just about every week on weekend nights and at more venues then opera. Lets have a look at my schedule since middle of may till the end of November... Saturday May 16th - Benny Benassi & The Crystal Method - Tabernacle Friday May 22nd - Josh Gabriel - Filter Friday May 29th - Nic Fanciulli - Filter Friday June 5th - Audiofly - Filter Friday June 12th - Lee Burridge - Filter Friday June 19th - Mark Farina - Filter Wednesday June 24th - Paul Van Dyk - Opera Friday June 26th - DJ Dan - Filter Friday July 3rd - MASTRKRFT & A-Trak - Opera Friday July 3rd - TV Rock - Filter Friday July 17th - Sasha & Digweed - Dreams Friday July 17th - VHS or BETA - Filter Friday July 31st - Hercules & Love Affair - Filter Friday August 7th - Funkagenda - Filter Friday August 14th - Steve Aoki - Filter Wednesday Sept 2nd - ferry Corsten - Opera Friday September 4th - Desyn Masiello - Filter Friday September 11th - Joris Voorn - Filter Friday September 18th - Mark Farina - Filter Friday September 25th - Sebastien Leger - Filter Friday October 2nd - Miguel Migs - Filter Friday October 9th - Lee Burridge - Filter Saturday October 10th - Tiesto - NATC Friday October 16th - Gene Carbonell - Filter Friday October 23rd - Spektrum - Filter Wednesday October 28th - Sasha - Opera Friday October 30th - George Acosta - Filter Friday November 6th - The Crystal Method - Opera Wednesday November 11th - Above & Beyond - Opera Wednesday November 18th - David Guetta - Opera So over the past 6 and a half months we have had 30 events 25 have been on weekend nights 5 have been weeknights 20 have been @ Filter 7 have been @ Opera 3 have been @ other venues As for you summary on Opera and q100, Opera has no connection with q100 on Saturdays or any of their night, in fact they have not even done q100 advertising in quite awhile. Their Saturday has been the same since they have opened. Saturday Night Standard.
For those of you who are planning on coming out for this show I am hosting a Meetup group. I often find that I am scrabling to find someone to go to shows with (since most of my friends are not in to EDM) if any of you want to meet new people that enjoy the same type of music as you please feel free to join us!! We will be meeting at TAP at 9pm for food/drinks but it if you can't make it to TAP I will be outside Opera from 10:15-10:45pm waiting for people who want to join the group. If you are interested I suggest that you check out the following link: http://www.meetup.com/Atlanta-Trance-Rave-Meetup-Group/
Thanks!
If weeknight shows are such a huge problem, why don't you get out of your comfort zone and check out everything else Atlanta has to offer besides lazer trance DJs on weeknights at Opera? If people weren't so dependent on a big name like Ferry Corsten and Armin and actually gave smaller artists a chance, we would get way more talent - and probably on weekends.. Congratulations on being part of the problem.
