red light district, canal tours, heineken brewery, van gogh museum, anne frank house, club escape, take a 2 hour train ride into frankfurt germany...so much to do..u can just walk around and have a blast there. i cant wait to go back in april.

Posted by gimmebeatz on Oct-15-2009 17:26:

theres also a rave at the heineken music hall on nov 21st called "turn up the bass" being thrown by ID-T.

^^

Gimmebeatz has great ideas!!

If its nice out, deffo take a canal tour. Its pretty tour and you get to see a big chunk of the city via water....

The best way to see what you want to do is just to walk around! Its a small city and you can see everything you want. Its actually amazing just to stroll around and see the canals and the differnt areas...you can see most everything in one day, write down what you might actually want to come back to, and go back.

also, there is a great view of the city on top of NEMO, the science center. They have cocktails on the roof in the summer, but not sure about this time of year.

Yeah that's about it. I went and spent 5 days in amsterdam and did all that stuff in 2 days while smoking weed and taking mushrooms (which were legal at the time). After 3 days I was ready to go. Kicking my self for choosing it over Berlin.

And as far as going to Germany and taking the train. Come on. Rent a nice car and go to fucking town on the autobahn! That I do recomend!

I had a good time but didn't need 5 days. One bright point dub fire ended up being there the sat night at panama which was a nice place.

That's just IMO. I know plenty of people who love it.

Shrooms are illegal in Amsterdam now? When did that come to pass?

nice all good stuff guys! i've been there once but i was 10 so i couldnt do anything good, i saw that big rave at heineken music hall and i def. might check it out even though i know NOBODY that is playing, and it seems like happy hardcore lol

any cool bars you guys know of?

Posted by Greggy4202k on Oct-15-2009 18:44:

I went to a lot of hostel bars, for some reason the bulldog is sticks out.

Also, if the weather is nice, rent a bike! My buddy and I had a blast riding the streets of amerstdam...though be careful b/c they have the riding system down pat, everyone rides in the same direction. My friend crossed lanes and went the wrong way and caused like a 10 bike pileup...hysterical! everyone was yelling at him and i just pulled over and died of laughter. also, make sure you time your activities right, i.e. rent a bike and ride to the coffee shops to get a feel for the biking first, dont go to the coffee shops and then rent a bike. that spells trouble.

great bar called the grasshopper (both a bar and a "coffee shop") ..shrooms became illegal there about a year or 2 ago however u can still get em in places with glowing signs saying "smarte shoppe" ..just ask..not all of em have them but most. theres a ton of great local pubs and coffee shops all right by the grasshopper which is right at the end of the damrak (main street in amsterdam) across from central station a bit. you can also go to live sex shows...good times and funny to watch as well. and as mentioned above there is also a club called panama.

and make sure u take advantage of being allowed to PEE IN PUBLIC!! lol....you'll know what i mean as ur walking the streets

Coffee Shops TO HIT
Grasshopper just for pictures, a bit more expensive, don't get the space cakes here...rip off 9 euro!!!!

BABA's - this is my most favorite shop it's a block away from Grasshopper perpendicular to Damrak

Namaste is another good shop to hit.

If you're going south towards Vondel Park, Leidsplein there's a canal coffee shop called Easy Times, it's a bit off the beaten path but once you get in there it's a nice quite spot away from the tourist riff raff.

The sights - Van Gogh definitely, Mixology (I think it's called House of Bols) is a nice museum to hit up...it's kinda expensive like 10EU per person but at the end you get like 2-3 drinks out of it not bad. Red light only at night, steer clear during the morning/day. Heineken is also good to see.

If you feel like hopping the metro - definitely head towards Utrecht, very similar to Amsterdam.

Steer clear of Bulldog Coffee Shops, they are every where and have the same menu.

Types that I found very good, any of the moroccan hash, the turkish creme is also pretty damn good, in terms of the ganja check out Cheese or Blue Cheese best I've ever had.

Another good heady shop is Dampkring, there is a grow house just across the street from Centraal but the main coffee shop is out to the far right passed bulldog when coming out of Centraal Station.

Flying into Schipol take the metro to Centraal, think it's 5EU each way not a problem at all - maybe 15-20min train ride.

Trams, TAKE THE TRAMS! If the weather is nice rent a bike and ride around.

Hieneken Brewery was AWESOME.
Anne Frank house was interesting.
Van Gogh Museum was boring.
The Green House was an awesome coffe shop.
The Flying Pig Downtown is the best place to stay.
Should have went for December 5th for Armin vs. Markus.

space cakes are brownies with hash in them if you don't feel like smoking anything. All this crap you hear about people saying omg i tripped hard off of them, I wouldn't believe the hype. I'm not saying you're gonna feel nothing but for me it was a light buzz through out the day. I ate 3 before getting on my flight back to NY.

get a space cake at BABA i am not sure what they put in them, i think it is mushrooms. It tastes like a regular brownie. we ate some of those and we could not find our hotel, which was two blocks away. It was pretty cool If you see people crying on the street or laughing for no reason, they ate some of that shit.

some of my favorite places

Hunter's - www.hunters-coffeeshop.com
The Dolphins - www.amsterdam.info/coffeeshops/thedolphins
Kadinsky - www.channels.nl/amsterdam/kadinsky.html

Burger Bar - www.burger-bar.nl
Miami Falafel - (no web address but it's on Leidsestraat, a couple of blocks up from the Leidseplein next to a Maoz - amazing falafel)

Hemp Works - www.hempworks.nl
A Space Oddity - www.spaceoddity.nl

enjoy the food, take a walk through Vondelpark, people watch, get high and go shopping, meet strangers, check out all the graffiti, drink beer that is brewed by midgets. there's an abundance of things to do and i think the best way to do it is just to walk around exploring aimlessly. you'll always find something.

OMFG... he goes into the bathroom, we're all like "wtf is taking him so long"

...so we open the door, and my man is straight up out cold on the floor!! CLASSIC!!

And yeah they made 'shrooms illegal like two years ago cuz too many (mostly British so the word on the streets it) tourists get dumb fucked and jump out windows and things of the likes. To get around it they have truffles which aren't quite as strong but will still do ya decent.

If you don't have a place booked, there's a hostel a few blocks from Dam Square and Central Station called "The Budget Hotel Tourist Inn"... it's pretty clean, modern, has LCD TVs, free breakfast in the morning (which is clutch), keycards, etc... it's my favorite place to stay.

Posted by RoBDaWG on Oct-16-2009 08:05:

Oh yeah and there's this one alley in the red light district... the girls umm... let's say have uhmm... adam's apples... beware!
