Nice, but in an amateurish sort of way. It's kinda like "let's see how many presets we can play with."

For those who might be curious about how Redhead was created and to clear up any controversy, no presets were used, and only a few synth patches were even made for this track. Most of it was created by manipulating custom programmed material or live instruments with outboard gear and fx. Logic was used during production, Pro tools HD through an ssl 9000k for mixing. The song hasn't gone to mastering yet. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking it out.

Cheers,

In regards to the creation of music it really doesn't matter what someone might suffer from, Asperger's, bipolar, depression or just a strong dislike for smug little pr*cks that like to talk sh*t while hiding behind the anonymity of a forum. In the end all that really matters is the music.

No worries, we don't take any comments personally. On the flip side if you have any music you'd like to share we'd sincerely like to hear it. We're always looking for new talent.
Cheers,

No problem, if anyone on here has any specific questions about our productions don't hesitate to ask. I don't mind going into even more details.

Cheers,

Actually this is Mikael, other half of D & J. Since we started 10 months ago we've already had 2 of our remixes (Lily Allen and Nadia Ali) hit #1 in the billboard dance charts. Both of our past and present accomplishments as artists, producers, re-mixers and engineers speak for themselves. We are both honored for any success we have, and we couldn't do it without the fans and industry that supports us... I say that with all sincerity and humility. In the end all that really matters is the music and we seem to keep finding people out there that like ours. For those that do like what we're doing this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have original collaborations with Nadia Ali, Jan Burton and Morgan Page, John Debo, Grayarea and others. If you're not feeling what we're doing that's cool, I'd recommend finding some music you do like and posting on those threads rather than disrupting ours with negative comments.
Thank You

Gotta love when a TA troll gets a proper backhand from an artist. We need more lol.

I had a question, what do you enjoying using for Compression and EQ? And it must be nice to mix on the SSL 9K.

Good question.
As for the Eq and compression, We use so many for different things, where do I begin. For a lot of our mash ups and stuff like that Dave usually puts all those ideas together in Logic 8 with the logic compressors and eqs which aren't bad. When I add my 2 cents I'll throw the edit in Pro Tools and do some chopping and editing and light mastering again using mostly plug ins and bouncing in the box. The plugins I use in PT are the Sonnox EQ and Compressor and L2 for stuff like that.

If we're doing an actual remix like Lily Allen, or most recently Owl City Dave and I will trade parts back and forth between Pro Tools HD and Logic 8. When we mix we mix through a Neve 5462 sidecar that I restored. There are pictures on our website in the media section. I use a combination of EQs on the console and plugin EQ and compression, mostly the Waves SSL, Neve and API bundles and Sonnox stuff. I hit the buss on the neve hard as it's got 40 db of headroom (beats digital's 0 db of headroom) and the entire mix goes through a Geoff Tanner compressor usually set to opto, 2/1 fast attack and release and I just tap the GR. The Tanner compressor sounds like a better Neve 33609 to my ears. It's not right for everything but it's very good.

When we mix our originals we mix with Jason Moss in LA on an SSL 9000 K. In those cases we use the EQ and compression on the console almost exclusively. I act as a second engineer and Dave and I produce while Jason mixes. We also use the SSL buss compressor on the entire mix.

I hope that answers your question. If there's anything else you want to know just ask

-Mikael

I am a big fan and love the type of music / sound you guys are going for. However, please try to find better lyrics for your songs. The lyrics from "love story" are among the worst i have ever encountered. "Your love is the greatest" .... cmon.

That answers everything and then some. I'm always interested in what producers are using to mix their music through, and comparing mixes to see how different equipment setups might impact a mix. So thanks for that. SSL 9k DrOOL. Even the Neve Sidecar creates droool. But of course its all about using it right ; )

What tracks did you guys mix through the Neve recently?

This is the point where people have to duck...chairs could fly. Revenge is in the air. Or if you too have watched Scarface a dozen times, REVENGAAA.

Or who knows, things might be civil.

Or.

I could make fun of Dave Dresden and his liking of big bellowing divahouse ladies with greasy perms and lovehandles that hold the answers to the operation of my toaster oven.

And how he has aspergers and bipolarness at the same time.

DAVE DRESDEN

Thats some serrrious dirt on Dave Dresden. Stuff that is definately worth a slow fap.

Now that we have that bit in the pot, whose winning the good fight?
Dave Dresden or TA's MVPs.

Meh, this thread doesn't have to turn into a "fight." I don't really care for dredging up that old drama. Why not just focus on the music here?

Posted by woscar on Nov-09-2009 16:31:

The drama is more fun.

And it's better produced too.

I was talking about the longterm fight. He did get the full might of TA super punch, but seems to still be chugging along with no impact from his demise on TA, a case could be made for him winning the war, even though he lost the early battle. Must have read some Sun Tzu while in the Galapagos Islands.

Imagined a choice group of TAs from that thread getting into a ball together and doing a M Bison type Psycho Crusher super punch on Dave Dresden.

First, you must realize this is a movingincircles thread.

Once you understand that, then you understand everything.
