Angry Airport looses Armin's recordcase...

From his website...
quote:
Hi everyone,

Here's the story about my lost bag: I checked in at Schiphol Airport. The check-in lady of Transavia checked my record bags to Ibiza, but then straight back to Amsterdam AS WELL. Thanks for that. Then, in Ibiza I had no recordbags, just a few CDR's. Thanks to Fergie and Signum I managed to play a decent set @ Eden. Back in Holland, they found ONE bag, but it was the least important one. So, there's still one missing, which is where the story really begins. KLM, who handles the bagage of Transavia, HAD THE BAG, but sent it to Barcelona. Then, it got lost. We've had absolutely NO help from Spanair or KLM. The bag is still lost untill this minute. Thanks to Tim Stark @ ATCR, Blackhole, United, FTM, Media, Erwin @ forbidden planet, David @ Ministry and Paspal @ BPM Dance, I know have 80% of the records again that were in the bag. I'll be fine for Sensation, but I'm missing a few classics. I'm very pissed about the way these airlines have treated us. I fly over 4 times a week, and I've got all the gold and royalwing memberships. They were of no use. As soon as I've got more news, I'll post it here. If you find a black ID&T bag, please leave a message on my messageboard.

To prepare you for your summer, whereever you may go, I've selected a couple of my favorite tracks on a new mixed double compilation. AVB004 is out now and can be bought through the brandnew shop section on this website, along with the other AVB cd's and the complete Armind vinyl catalogue!!!! AVB004 contains a selection of the tracks you've heard in my radioshow and in my sets, but we've included some new tracks as well.

Armin van Buuren

Tell me that wouldn't suck!

That's fuckin' horrible.

Re: Re: Airport looses Armin's recordcase...

BTW.
I've lost luggage almost everytime I've gone anywhere.
But the airlines always delivered it to my door, just one day
later, which was even better.

Posted by capricorn15 on Jul-05-2002 09:54:

i can imagine losing some luggage with clothes or some shit in it, but if i got a record bag lost, i would hella pissed cuz its probably gonna have some of the classics that cant be found on vinyl anymore and it would be killer
ya

Posted by Strike on Jul-05-2002 12:56:

yeah
i would be really pissed if i was armin
maybe next time we should all bring our record bags on board

Posted by MoonMan on Jul-05-2002 13:17:

NIGHTMARE!!! These airlines are taking the piss, as if flying with them regulary isnt an incentive to get there arses in to gear and find this missing record bag. i cant even begin to imagine what quality RARE!! vinyl was in there

just wondering......

If you found the bag , would you give it back?

Posted by Ray_Finkle on Jul-05-2002 14:05:

I personally would.
Reason being is that Armin is an amazing Dj and a great guy since he respects his fans and interacts with them. So why would I try to screw over one of my favorite Djs? Besides, I'm sure there would be an incentive or something

But if someone found them who didn't like trance, he would prolly just sell them off or something.

yeah...lol...i think i would have a sudden sense of greed rushing through me

Posted by Blue. on Jul-05-2002 14:58:

That sucks ass. Hope they ship it to my house by accident
Then I'd have to be ripin promos for the board though hehehe.

Posted by Wasted_Space on Jul-05-2002 15:47:

That has to hurt. Go absolutely crazy at the airlines, letters, phone calls, sh*t load of complaints... Get the buggers to grovel a bit, its vinyl for fvcks sake. And carry ya cases as carry on from now on. If they tell ya, ya can't, explain the story and once again, if they say no, go mental.

hey whats that black record case doing in my back garden .... lol

gutted ,. i bet some kid in afganistan is eating the records

Posted by kurai on Jul-05-2002 16:24:

I wouldn't let my bag out of my view

The same thing happend to Tiesto when he came to miami last time. He was supposed to spin at two tents at this event that we have in Miami called "Ultra" and he ended up only spining at the mainstage. He borrowed cd's and some records from Oakenfold. He still spun a great set though, and now basically all the records he lost he requested them and got them back.

Angry

how could they lose such a large record bag? when i was a bike courier i handled about 40 packets a day and there's no way i'd lose them. record case went to Barcefuckinlona instead of Ibiza?? fuck KLF.

this is precisely why we all should have backups. always backup our vinyls as CDRs or MP3s on a server (or for pros, 2 servers at 2 different studios). after BT and Armin's ordeals, i hope we're learning something. also i think Armin prolly can fuck over KLF and the airline, since he knows quite a lot about law.

Armin, a piece of advice for you: _ALWAYS_ take your record bag with you on the carry-on luggage. That's what I do - this way I am sure whenever I travel to the gig via air, none of the records get lost.

peace

Ye he'd better be more carefull next time lol. I'd hate for that to happen to me.

LOL, that must have worked fine 'cause Tiesto spins the same stuff Oakie did three years ago, right?

Kidding.

Heh, sounds like he managed a sweet set anyways then. Obsession is a great starter.

As for the original topic, it probably would have been safer to bring the cases with him on the plane, but remember most airlines only allow 1 piece of carry-on luggage. Didn't Armin say he had two cases with him? I guess he had no choice but to leave them "safely" in the checked luggage.
