Why doesn't Sven Vath ever comes/gets booked in LA?
Why doesn't Sven Vath ever come to LA? Anyone know? Does he have something against LA like Tenaglia used to? It seems like no one books him. I can't even remember the last time he played here. He plays in Mexico every year, but not LA.
Sven is one of the very few DJ's I still yet to see.
Didn't he play at Circus when Giant was there?

That was ages ago. Over 5 years to be exact. That's way too long.
Now that I think about, I do remember seeing his name on flyers back in the 90's. lol Again, way too long!

would love to see him!
No draw.
The only time I saw him was in Toronto in 2003.
Every time a promoter tries to book him, apparently he is always booked up solid for like a year, so it's hard to book him. Hmmm... I wonder where he is getting booked? I haven't heard anything from him within the past few years. The last live set I heard from him was a set he did with James Holden, about 3-4 years ago.

I knew I should've gone to Mexico to see him last year. He did two nights in a row!!!

He would definitely draw, I don't believe that's it
Just my opinion only and more so as a fan, because he's one of my all time favorites
Yes he does book himself a year in advance and I believe he dedicates the first month or two of the year to his family; especially his daughter.
Following that, between his label, clubs, residencies and his age.
I would be selective with my gigs too
Just an assumption only, but he seems to be choosing event/locations where he knows for sure the vibe will be to his preference
I follow his calendar often, it's ridiculous; he plays in areas of the world I've never even heard of and I've traveled to many places.
It's not like he would have any problem getting gigs here
His set at Bed in Miami a few years ago during WMC was amazing
Even Richie Hawtin and Lee Burridge were on the dancefloor rocking out
He's definitely a DJ's DJ. Trust me, he would sell out. I would love to see him at a Deep Dark venue, maybe even the Mayan. A warehouse party would be sick, or maybe even under that bridge on the LA River that's near downtown. You know, the one that comes out on all the gangsta movies. lol
I once played at a warehouse party on South Central LA. The hood was GHETTO, but the vibe was amazing. It was one of the best undergrounds I ever played at. To see Sven at a venue like that would be amazing!
I'm tired of the regular venues.
hint hint Incognito Crew
I still remember that day @circus...
it was sven vath and richie hawtin back to back night.
one of the classic night at circus.
how come even richie hawtin is not coming to LA??

The answer is quite simple. Sven has spent a good deal of time over the past decade creating and perfecting his Cocoon brand, not just in Frankfurt and Ibiza, but through most of Europe and to a lesser extent in Japan. Most of his audience are from the European mainland (a vast majority from Germany), and as such, he spends most of his time in those areas. The same people who attend his parties on the mainland, also go to see him, Ritchie, Villalobos, Luciano etc at Amnesia every summer. Thus the audience stays consistent and doesn't really suggest a need to come to America.

| Originally posted by HearHarmonic Far from true. There is a reason he never plays in US in general. Have no idea what it is. Ricardo Villalobos won't play in US either. |
Villalobos didn't play in the states during the Dubya years because he was pissed about being interrogated at an airport shortly after 9/11.
