You can also help depending on the brand of cereal you purchase.

Truly, knowledge is power.

Hey Moral, did God smite the Haitians because they're black sinners or because he just works in mysterious ways? The newspapers neglect to tell.

Yeah that was pretty redundant of me.

You ask me to know the mind of God?

If the god I believe in does exist he's with those suffering and grieving.

Oh that prankster.

Haiti PM claiming, "Hundreds of thousands" are dead.

That's an insane amount. I hope it's not true.

Re: Haiti

This is heart-wrenching. Haiti is already one of the poorest countries in the world, yet natural disasters hit them over and over again

Incidentally, a guy from work did say something about God working in mysterious ways...

Yeah, it's a rather convenient cop-out for the staggering logic that god is either inexistent or a fucking asshole.

Posted by Amduscias on Jan-13-2010 18:24:

I didn't feel the quake but ivande did

/jealousy/

Posted by Decoder on Jan-13-2010 19:23:

What's the point of having an earthquake in the desert... I don't get it. There're elephants dying in the trauma unit over here.

Actually, the way he put it, he seemed to believe God had saved some people from living in a benighted country and pulled them up straight to heaven so they could have the life they deserved... like a disguised rapture we'll never fully understand.

So, according to this view, God is still a cool guy woh saves people and doesn't afraid of anything... a convenient cop-out indeed

Wait, are you talking about what I said? If so you're way off... my point is that the god Christian's believe in would be suffering with the people and giving them comfort; not smiting some and saving others.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Jan-13-2010 20:05:

Yes, well, his record is definitely against him in this case.

Huh? I'm talking about my workmate

He said that. And he's not a Christian, by the way, I think... wait, let me do some research... he's a Tenrikyoan.

That's entirely dependent on what one believes. We'd probably be able to go in circles all day on this issue; not much of a point in it though. I just wanted to clear up Lira's misunderstanding of my post... assuming he was addressing my post.

No worries, I wasn't talking about your post, nor was I laughing about your theism, in case it sounded like it. I was just laughing at the witty things TA's say in these occasions
