old skool kung fu movies
anyone else like them?.. i dont mean ones that are 10 years old.. im talking really old skool ones from the 70's and early 80's like early early jackie chan stuff i.e drunken master,my luky stars, wheels on meals, legend of drunken master. and others like wu-tang vs ninja, 36 chambers.
proper martial arts movies that show actual skill, rather than showing what is the most fucked up crazy looking move you can possibly achieve using CGI and wires.
im predominantly a horror movies buff [80's style too] but every once in a while i go through my kung fu phase, and im now after some decent oldies. the more bizarre the better. i watched 'master of flying guillotine' which wasnt amazing, but not bad, some good ideas like the yoga master with extendable arms [a la dhalsim]
this scene taken from legend of drunken master.. which is arguablyone of the best fight scenes ever in a movie
anyone know any other movies like this?
Once upon a time in China
The Big Boss
Theres quite a few out there, I can't think of any right now.
Look for as you already said Old School Jackie Chan, but also Donnie Yen, Jet Lee and Stephen Chow as well for more of a comedy like film.
ahh im not a fan of jet lee at all.. same with bruce lee. id much rather just watch movies with nobodies in it as long as the fight scenes are skillful, and the story line is far fetched and supernatural-like.
once upon a time in china, ive not seen.. might give that a watch

The Big Boss was where he worked at the Ice block factory that were smuggling drugs in the ice blocks, fucking classic.
i think he was trying to bone his cousin too.. i haven't seen it in a while

Re: old skool kung fu movies
i've tried to find that one shaolin temple / 36 chambers english dubbed version that was the source for all samples in wtc - enter the 36 chambers, but with no luck
drunken master is one of the funniest movies ever
Maybe you haven't found it because Shaolin temple and The 36th chamber of Shaolin are two different movies.
Downloading movies is not my thing at all but if dvds go, the version of 36th chamber with an English dub - the US R1 release, is available on amazon uk for ~4.50.

"You have offended my family, and you have offended a Shaolin temple."
I fucking love this film. First proper martial arts film I saw as a kid.

If you clowns like Bruce Lee, I hope you've all seen the Movie Ip Man.
The best I've seen is Shaolin vs. Lama.

kung fu panda is the best martial arts movie ever made!
i have no idea how they trained all the animals, but it was very impressive nonetheless.
