Ending a DJ set

What ways have you guys ended your dj sets using effects etc?

I tend to mainly use the filter and delay together, roll or echo.

backspin....

Posted by Dj Gracjan on Jan-19-2010 03:41:

echo + brake speed followed by a backspin when the cdj stops and while the echo is going on.

depends what kind of music was being played. I also have a efx1000 so creativity is generally good

Either play trance, tech trance 138 bpm or tech house, electro about 130 bpm.

I have a djm-700 mixer and an efx-500.

I use tracks that have nice outros.

If not, I slowly fade out mids and highs and after that lows.

poweroff on the 1210 (not stop, but power off).

Um... I usually let the track finish.

you do realize that you can eq the track to make a nice fade out right?

sort of like most djs do in clubs before the silence and the encore at the end of the night...kill bass slowly while adding highs...and so on.

Yup I tend to poweroff too. It's just so fun and if you time it right you get some RAD effects.

If that's not interesting enough adding my xone's filters and a delay is always a nice gesture.

Posted by Freak on Jan-20-2010 12:08:

Most common methods are turntable power down ( or simulated power down on cdj using wide pitch), filter out, delay with fade out, loop it then fade out, or just a good old spin back.
Dont forget the 'one more tune' if the crowd wants it.
One more can often turn into three more

now that i have the xone32 i would just HPF or LPF it. with HUUUUGE reso.

Leave the last record running and go home. Or for extra effect, put it in a loop before you leave, then come back tomorrow to see if everyone's still there.

hahaha nice..

Funny you mention looping it. Numerous times while spinning at house parties, when I feel like going for a smoke I will just loop 8 beats and go. Sometimes I get held up chatting for like 10-15minutes and when I come back no ones notices shit...lol..still just jammin'

HAHAHAHA Sounds exactly like what Tiesto's been doing. The last few times I saw him, he did that. He put on a song, took his headphones off, and just walked out. Next thing you know, another DJ came on. lol
