Coachella

Jay-Z, Gorillaz, Tom Yorke, Phoenix, MGMT, Miike Snow, Whitest Boy Alive, Little Dragon, Orbital... awesome lineup!

Posted by Acton on Jan-19-2010 22:03:

I saw the line up for this earlier today, the whole thing looks fucking ace to be fair, such a great line up. But I'm flying over for the WMC this year and unfortunately WMC and Coachella are a bit close together, so I can't do both .

TCV, nice I want them @ Open Air this year

Posted by Acton on Jan-19-2010 22:12:

I just think that's the best line up I'm going to see all year, in my opinion.

Definitely considering Coachella next year.

This is a rare good line up for Coachella. The past 3 years have been pretty shitty.

Jay-Z
LCD Soundsystem
Passion Pit
Echo & The Bunnymen
Fever Ray
Grace Jones
Little Dragon
Aeropalne
MUSE
MGMT
Hot Chip (new album ftw)
The xx
Flying Lotus
Gorillaz
Phoenix
Orbital
Spoon
De La Soul
Gary Numan (still a little in awe at this)
Florence & The Machine
Delphic

Stellar fucking lineup.

I'm actually going to throw it out there and say it's one of the finest line ups I've ever seen. Act wise, it's everything I could ever want from a festival.

Maybe I'll wait until I see next years line up before booking a flight then .

Do large numbers of TA's flock there every year?

From my experience, the LATAs usually only flock if there's a big dance lineup (like there has been in the past). That's not to say they're not there, but it's hard to tell with half a million people walking around

i hear daft punk may be on the coachella list next year as they released plans to tour in 10/11. anyone correct me if i'm wrong, but if it's true, hopefully they've come up with new ways to keep people interested

A Daft Punk tour for 2011? They must be releasing a new album or something, surely. I haven't heard any rumours for future releases though, apart from the Tron soundtrack, which will be out towards the end of the year.

I saw them live a couple of years ago, it was the best festival set I have ever witnessed, simply amazing.

The dance music lineup is weak, but there are some good bands playing.

Gorillaz, Thom Yorke, Fever Ray, Mew, Flying Lotus, and Muse is all I really care for. Probably not worth the trip for me.

Posted by maddraver on Jan-19-2010 23:17:

one of the main reasons i do like it is because it doesnt have many dance music acts. its a good mixture of different types of music
its a nice way to see lots of groups that are otherwise very hard to see.

the reason anyone going should go see faith no more

There seems to be one common complaint every year for the last few years; the Sahara lineup is weak. Of course it is, it's a massive festival that caters more towards the indie rock side of things and, thus, needs to book EDM that arcs moreso in that direction.

I went in 2008 and had an absolute blast. That said, with the effort and finances involved, I'm not going to go unless the lineup is spectacular. Gil Scott-Heron (easily THE best act of the festival), Sly & the Family Stone, Talvin Singh, Les Claypool (yeah, I know...), Plastikman & Orbital are all acts that I would love to see. I just can't justify blowing a shitload of money just for them.

Jay-Z would've been cool to see maybe five years ago or so. I wouldn't waste my time now that Kanye has teamed up with him.

DEMF for me this year.

+1

Posted by Seppuku on Jan-19-2010 23:57:

It sucks because opportunities to see some of those artists are hard to come by...but as much as I would love seeing them, I just can't justify traveling across the country right now.

Posted by Banora on Jan-20-2010 00:00:

Yeah, same here. I'd love to see Muse and Mew again, and I've never seen Thom Yorke (looove to), but I will be in school for finals.

Who are all these people!? Are they famous? Except for a few dj's and bands (Orbital, the Raveonettes, Tiesto, and the like), I've never heard about them...
