Question Insomnia

Ever get into spurts where you just can't sleep?
Unfortunately I have been having them a lot lately

What do you do to help yourself get that much needed sleep??

Homework Research

Smoke a joint, drink 2 beers, lights-out within the hour.

Reading a book is another good one, 30-40 pages and I'm drowsy, and it helps keep my mind from racing, which is usually the culprit when I can't sleep.

Watch a light TV show or movie that you like and have seen a lot of. Then you won't have the feeling that you have to stay up and finish watching it. I usually fall asleep to TV. Friends and the Office always do it for me...out half way through the episode.

Also, I've never done it b/c I can't drink milk, but doesn't a class of warm milk help?

Valerian root extract in a glass of water.

It's about the only thing that works for me (even if it is at a rougly 70% success rate). I've been dealing with insomnia for most of my life & even seconal didn't do shit for me. So that's what I go with. It's available at almost every natural supplement store for about $10 for a bottle that'll last you for months.

Oh, just one warning. Valerian root extract tastes fucking awful. But you'll be comfortably lights out in about 30 minutes after taking it.

Edit: Also, I've never found valerian root to give me messed up dreams.

Is it just me, or does anyone else kinda look forward to how wild the dreams get with 5HTP? NyQuil is another doozy for dreaming...love it. It's like a little adventure in the back of my mind!

"Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it's time to get up"

i forget where i read that...but it's very true

i enjoy my melatonin dreams.. first dream i was caddying for bill haas in yesterdays final round then woke up. next dream, i was a soldier in a futuristic middle eastern city. a zombie/witch type girl attacked me and we struggled for like 15 minutes and i woke up with a sore back lol

See, the watching TV or a movie doesn't work for me at all when I have severe cases like I did last night. I didn't end up falling asleep until 7.30 this morning and only 4 hours sleep.

It is gonna make for a very miserable and unhappy day today. I need a solid 8+ these days.

I forgot how well this used to knock me out. The only problem is a would have troubles getting up the next morning after taking it.

Usually gravol does the trick for me, but even that wasn't working.

Thanks for this tip. I will definitely have to check it out.
Anything is worth trying at this point.

I am hoping because of the lack of sleep last night that tonight will be a breeze to be out like a light... I guess I'll find out later and cross my fingers that 2nd, 3rd or 4th wind doesn't hit me at 11pm tonight.

Probably cause it put you into a deeper better state of sleep then usual.

NeoCitron always knocks me out. I know it's supposed to be for a Cold or the Flu, but when I'm desperate for sleep, I'll take it. I'm gonna guess that's it's not recommended to use every night though.

Reading usually works for me as well. And i would advise against any TV, video games, or use of a computer within an hour of going to bed. I find those things usually tend to keep my mind racing once I stop and lie down.

Regular exercise, especially cardio, works wonders.

And percocets don't hurt :P

yeah I never thought of that. I usually save that for when I'm sick
I would imagine though like anything, enough of it won't do the trick anymore like the gravol for me.
