since that thread got closed...
I wanted to ask...is there a specific set of rules that apply to what can / cannot be posted in certain forums? The only thing I could find was the following, which is what you must agree to before registering a TA user name....

For years there was no active mod...that should answer your question. The site has been around for 10+ years and has always been organized by topic. I will try to get a copy of some kind of official rules for you.
Mainly tho... the last line says it all
"The owners of tranceaddict Forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread or post for any reason."
PPD
whats the purpose of NY section of ta when we can't have an interview done with ny dj/producer posted on here?? shit is getting so annoying.

BTW, I'm really not trying to be annoying about all this. I have been on TA since 2003, and love being a part of the TA community.
Just seems like things are getting really tight around here.
Interview threads might also get a lot less trolling if placed in local forums too...
don't ban me

I am looking through the TOTA forums, and they leave sports content... On the flip side, why are Prometheus Xex's video threads allowed to stay, when the content has nothing to do with NYTA? ( BTW, I think the vids are great, and I am sure people here want to see them) But I'm sure everyone here would also prefer to see the sports threads stay. Why is one allowed to stay, and the other not? BTW, I am just using those two as subjects...the same comparisons can be made elsewhere. |
this board is slowly going down the ClubPlanet path....
Clubplanet was broken down in a similiar fashion: Regions(NYC, NJ, Florida, and other spots in the US), Sex, Music, Drugs, and a promotion board.
there were no restrictions from people talking about monthly top 10s on the NYC Board or from people talking about the one Night stands in the Jersey Board. The admin trusted his mods. he only ask that the mods close and/or move threads if they were getting out of hand with drama.
It was FUN
I'm still wondering why this thread was closed...

| Originally posted by zizack lol, douche. I am just legitimately curious. As an example...for years, we have been able to talk about sports here in NYTA...whether it be hockey, UFC, snowboarding, boxing, The Yankees, whatever.... now Sports threads must all be moved to the Sports Forum...? Just curious what has changed, and why? To me, those just seem like normal NYTA discussions. |
Ever since steven neil stopped posting the ny boards are boring.
Seems like when everyone was asking for a mod, they didn't factor all aspects of what the mod must do.
In reality, what everyone really wanted was someone to get rid of those pesky spamming promoters and spam links to handbags and Nike sales.
amirite?

yeah its gettin a little funky around here lol not gonna lie.
I agree with you guys as well.
Z, you've done a fantastic job of cleaning up the place. I know you're following the rules and can't fault you for that.
However TA makes me sad now. These few threads about things we're not happy with are the most interesting discussion that we've had going on here in forever. Anything else that would have been interesting has been moved.
In my opinion the main issues before when we had an inactive mod were the spam, and having 90000 threads about the same event. The new events subforum was neither here nor there to me. I like it, it's much more organized. And I like it even better now that you can put the events on the main page and they move to the top with the most current post like they used to. It's really nice having only one thread per event now.
Other than those issues, I liked things the way they were. To me a message board is a place where I can address multiple people publicly and have them reply to me. Or I can read an reply to something someone else has written and join in a group discussion.
When writing something in a regional forum, I do it because I want to discuss it with those particular people in that forum/area. Otherwise what's the point of having a regional forum at all? I don't think it should be meant just to announce local events. NYTA used to be a community. Now it's just a party planner.
It seems to me that we no longer have the freedom of speech that we once had around here. I miss being able to discuss things other than events with you guys. I don't see anything wrong with being able to discuss sports, dj advice, or any other topic with you guys so long as it's not offensive.
Moving threads seems the same as censorship to me when the people I want to read them never will.
Z, this is not directed towards you. You're doing an awesome job of upholding the rules around here.
Swamper, would you please allow us to have a little more freedom around here?

I agree that there is way too much censorship here. The thread about our birthdays for example, the three of us as we know are not promoters. We just wanted to let TAs know where we are celebrating our birthday since some of you do not have fb. There was only location info, who was on, there was not info about guestlists or who is promoting it. I preferred to leave that to the promoters of the event that would set an event on the event page. Still, the thread was closed and I was told to make an event thread. I really hope the event promoters will be able to make their thread because they should be able to get the word out on their event.
When CP changed, a lot of people left. You can find a bunch on NCC and a few still on rhythmism. I know I am newer to posting on TA but have read the boards for a while. The NYTAs are probably the most pleasant board community of active EDM people. It would be unfortunate for everyone to leave or post less. Give us our interviews, our sports, our threads we have interest in discussing with NYTAs even though it isn't an NY topic, and just continue to weed out the spam and multiple event threads. We had the changes for months and only now it is becoming excessive. It seems like euphoria should be given more pull. Remember, if you tighten the reins too much, you'll get a negative response.
I think this is all some huge strategically thought out plan to over-moderate the forum so all you whiners who couldn't handle a little bit of spam and were crying for moderation, will now never complain about wanting supervision again.
