[Review] ASOT450 NYC Roseland Ballroom
Here's a taste of day 1....
Pics are on the way
Armin's set was awesome. Unfortunately, thats all I can comment on because I was not there for everyone else.
I will say, he's the most animated and energetic DJ I've seen, lol. He really feeds off the crowd and works to keep people energized. At least thats what I took away from seeing him last night.
I had an absolute blast! The cons were that they had no lasers and the sound was a bit muffled in the front. But I always love shows where you get to experience a lot of talent in a short period of time. Last time MIKE played in a NYC big room was when Spirit was around several years ago.
After doing the entire winter music conference it was very nice to not have to decide who I wanted to see next and who I had to skip. Everyone had no choice but to agree at something like this :-)

The absolute best set Armin ever played Imo. Perhaps the only set that has a good chance of unseating BOIM as my most favorite work of Armin ever. I was tripping balls on music alone. Phenomenal performance by Roger and of course Marcello. I was really hoping he'd drop "dusk" but he didn't, leaving me disapointed.
Here's my summary:
C&M - 0/10
Eco - 9.5/10 (only coz he didn't play DUSK)
rank1 - 3/10 (3 points mostly for airwave)
Armin - holly fuck x woa ^1000000000 / 10
menno - 4/10 (didn't feel it)
Roger - excellent, very very good 10/10
Mike -8/10 based on 3 tracks I heard in the beginning
Nigh overall - 10/10
bumped into Marcello, super friendly dude! Marcello, if u r reading this -it was a pleasure to meet you.
i will keep my review kinda short
got there early heard the last half of cerf and matiska...a lil too many vocals for my likeing, the crowd reminded me of a jonas brothers concert very very young
eco came on and showed these new jacks wat trance was all about, the crowd litteraly exploded and you gave them the first real set of the night, i said it last night by giving you the bottle of vodka, and i will say it again now congrats eco man i hope this is just the start of bigger and better things for you
rank1= fail
armin- i will give him credit he actually played a more trancey set then his set in toronto, last night he didnt really whore out his own shit all night long and played some trance stuff
menno- first half of his set was wackness, second half he picked it up and closed out with andain- summer calling (airwave remix)
shah- i honestly will never understand why he was on sooooo late in the evening, the music was not that bad but the timeing of it was horrible
m.i.k.e.- came on and the energy of the music went from 1 to 10 in about 5 min
awesome set banged it out properzzzzzzzz
overall fun night, 2nite iam hopeing to hear some more tranceeeeeeee
Unbelievable night! Thought the music was spot on from start to finish and there were so many friends and TA's that came out that made it such a fun night. For me Eco was really the highlight of the night. It was great to watch his connection with the crowd, and he really went the extra mile to make his set special with all the mashups and twists in there. Other than that I really enjoyed the sets by Armin and Mike as well, and of course all that Beck's and Patron!
My review from the other thread:

Yes, I fail to realize that I dont go out as much, and therefore can not drink as if I go out every weekend. Tolerance: FAIL.

Just got home from night 2 and all I have to say is WOW!!! Going to bed and will post a review later on.
Guiseppe owned. Unreal!!!
UNREAL NIGHT
big props to armin for changing up 80% of his tracklist from the night before... was not expecting that all.. and joc def stole the night for me. the guy was dropping some serious bombs, could have listened to him all night long. most of his tracklist is prob an id lol
was very disappointed with alex morph's set.
05. Darren Tate & Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine In (Filo & Peri Remix)

edit: armin only played 3 songs from the night before.

Gotta say, I was not looking forward to tonight as the only fun points of last night for me were Eco and MIKE, but wow.... tonight was amazing, i even liked Armin for fuck's sake, and that never happens. Guiseppe and JOC were stellar!!!!
Damn what a night. Casey Breakfast killed it in my opinion. Loved his set, awesome vibe from him.
GO was awesome as always.
Armin, i was really impressed with his track selection toward the last hour of his set. Super techy, awesome stuff, 138-140bpm straight.
Also playing control freak and Simon Patterson - Miss you made my night.
Anyone who says alexmorph isnt the most fun dj alive... is wrong...

Thanks to everyone who came out and shared one of the biggest nights in my life.. I do the best I can to be a friendly guy to everyone I meet at Love, Webster, Pacha, Birch Coffee, etc., and I knew the feeling was reciprocated when I jumped on the stage and saw nothing but familiar faces in the complete front 1/3 of the dancefloor... All I can say is I hope you enjoyed it, I put all my energy into that performance haha...
tracklist:
1. Moshic - Am I Stand On The Right Side (Eco Flew Away Bootleg)
2. Espen Loretzen - Lateral
3. Lo Step - Burma (Martin Roth Bootleg)
4. Paul Tarrant - Sunset Serenade (JPL Remix)
5. Eco feat. Lira Yin - Love (Dub Mix)
6. Eco - Lost Angeles (Breakfast Remix)
7. Eco - People (Rafael Frost Remix)
8. Juventa - Minority Report
9. Eco - Tonight Is Forever (Martin Roth Edit)
10. Moogwai - Viola 2005 (Tek^Tonik Remix)
i was listening to it online last night, and Armin gave multiple shout outs to TA. haha... pretty cool. I got home at 1:45 and caught the end of armins set, all the way through morphs set.
can they have one of these events, like, once every month? please?
Another epic night some really good sets. Armin brought it again. Never seen roseland go that wild when he dropped that on and out of love mashup. Great stuff
