The Melbourne Shuffle
Anyone else do it?
Didn't even know what it was until someone described it for me, I just thought that people danced that that all across the world. Pretty wierd that we have our own little dance like that.....
How do you dance in other cities btw? I know that Sydney has the reputation for jumping up and down, but what about the rest of you?
Just curious.
hhmm..
wat the hell is the melb shuffle?? explain it please
and i dont change my style when in another city
yeah wtf is a melbourne shuffle?
is that like shuffling up and down collins st in a hotted up WRX or something
most sydney events i go to, there is no room to do anything other than jump up and down
Its a dance thing.
We just shuffle around, the legs and feet don't appear to be doing much, but on closer inspection, they are doing a lot.
Had a Sydneysider come up to me at the GlobalUnderground launch and comment that my take on the whole shuffle thing was pretty good, eh, its not that great.
I hear Sydney goes off with the 'running man' dance move, but then again, i hear a lot of things.

The Melbourne Shuffle
Shufffffle
Yeah I think I know what you're talking about, most melbourne ppl can dance quite reasonably. On the shuffle note though I'm not sure wuite what your saying..............this is gonna sound weird but bear with me....
You kinda like move the right foot around sorta the left and then swap that process or also sometimes ppl cut sick with both...
It's all about one step, stomp, whatever you wanna call it per beat...
umm...yeah........I understand the, looks like we don't do much but a lot is happening below........; another point: are they saying we don't move our arms and they just hang by our sides???!!!! pffft.
but I can understand the sydney jumping thing LOl

Some Norwegian bloke just ripped the video and posted a link to it in the thread Mikrop started in the C/O Room.
Seems we have some foreign fans of our little dance.

*runs to chillout room*
Well in brisbane ppl dance very differently. More twirls and jumps. You can easily tell a brisbane dancer if they ever go to melb
Renegade
Man I've been shufflin' since the Metro-underage-party days
.... *shudder* . I only realised it was a Melbourne thing at the start of uni when I read about it in the uni magazine or something.

Lol the Melbounre Shuffle that rocks i watched it on ITM!
Fuck Yes that Melbourne shit ROCKS... i have seen it in real life but i just thought it was raving
Yeah i'm familiar with the melb shuffle... and the one with twirls and stuff is the brisbane bounce and yes ppl recognise both of them all over the world... so my friends inform me ... as they were informed by strangers on the dance floor in germany that they must have originated in brisbane and melb respectively. amazing how cities can have such recognisable local culture.
the bris bounce has some up and down arms thing then a drop to your haunches with a spin in the crouched position before bounceing back up again... bit like russian dance but not fat man from cold place but speed freak from the burbs... hehehehe
but where can you bounce now the valley is like the city here in brisneyland.
actually i dont really dance i just jiggle a lot and all with eyes closed because the sound is pharqin amazing. if it aint... i am leaving the shitty little venue that stupidly played shit music... (most of brisbane)... hard to get into the clubs because you have to squeeze around the attitude and ego of all the pretty people anyhow.
there are a few clubs in collins street (the little one). in fact i am amazed by the tortuous side alleys you go down to find a door with venue!! (still i was only following others)
c yah
woot i love the shuffle...
i thought i would join in on the thread bumping
