open decks? even nicer. will burn some cds and get there early!

I am glad we are doing open decks. It's a great opportunity for djs that don't get to play out. I actually started out with open decks in philly, and I want to give some others the same opportunity. We are planning on doing this bi-weekly, so hopefully we can continue to do this and help give experience to some locals.

Also it's, open bar, free, and cheap drink prices. I think it's going to be a great night.

Really excited to be back at Sin Sin...it's a really cool intimate venue, and the staff is always very friendly. Looking forward to playing as well as hearing the local talent!

This open decks idea sounds pretty entertaining, although I'd want a Gong Show style option where we can yank someone off if they really suck. Is there a selection process or is it first come, first serve?

I never make it to your Thursday events, Ali, but I might go to see Zabs that night. If I do, I'll be pre-gaming at Sin Sin with you.

actually now that i think about it, there are going to be a lot of people wanting to do the open decks on here. maybe someone is up for doing a b2b set with me during one of the hours (assuming we get the spot)?

depending on the amount of djs that show up. we can do 4 slots, 30 mins each.

Caroline, come and hangout, it will be good to catch up.

Yeah this could definitely be a gift or a curse. Gong show isn't a bad idea but would be unfair perhaps to those who are just trying to get their feet wet. Perhaps you could argue that adequate bedroom and/or house party experience should be assumed before. Kind of a 'look before you leap' suggestion.

What kind of setup would this be any how? I feel like it would be best for CDJ guys. I always love to get behind the decks but my setup is so particular I would need my laptop, soundcard and two usb devices. Maybe too much effort for only 30 mins. Not that 30 mins isn't a great opportunity, but it would take nearly half that to get everything wired up and checked it's probably more suited for the standard 2 deck guys.

Def the place to be to kick off the weekend!

Posted by Ali Mahmud on Jun-08-2010 04:55:

It's 2 cdj's and 800 mixer.

I agree we can't gong people. I mean this could be some dj's first time playing out, and you don't want to discourage them from ever playing again. I will be sure to try and be there early to catch all the open deck djs, If some one is good, I can bring them back as a guest.

It's better than nothing, plus would you really want to give someone a full hour not knowing what to expect. We don't want to clear out the club lol

Nice decor, dim lighting, very chill and laid back. Not a huge room but decent size. Picture something along the lines of Sullivan Room just covered in red and leopard print + candles.
